Small-box escape room experience
If you are a fan of the escape room genre and want a light small-box game that plays in about an hour with relatively easy puzzles, go for this one.My son and I have tried have tried a few escape room games, as well as physical escape rooms. Compared to the Exit and Unlock series, the Deckscape series is the simplest of the three. It contains a set of 60 cards, with a number of puzzles. The answers are on the back, and you simply ding yourself a negative point if you answer incorrectly or fail to have the item required to solve it.Some of the advantages of the Deckscape series are that there is no destruction of components, so you can hand this game over to a friend after you are done. The puzzles are very straightforward resulting in an interesting hour long experience, especially enjoyable with children. For experienced players who are used to escape room games or medium to hard puzzles, the Deckscape series may not have much to offer. Also, the quality of the series is all over the place, with some nice games mixed in with some very forgettable ones. This specific Deckscape game is one of the best in the series. The storyline, though not much, is interesting; the puzzles are thematic, and the variable player powers add a nice twist that is not seen in this genre.
