LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!
This elephant shoots the ball out his trunk, when you drop it in his left ear with a strong gush of wind, which is started by pushing the red button.. You can turn the trunk to return the ball in his left ear and pop back up, to shoot in his right ear and land in the collection area below, or to do either or randomly. However, ometimes it just sits on on the top and you or baby has to recirculation it. This isn't a bother, because most likely your baby has put his or her hand on the top and blocked it, or picks it up to lick it....The music is circus type, 2 songs I believe or the sound of the wind mechanism. THIS IS A LOUD TOY! It is lots of fun, and my grandson likes you to hold the trunk toward his face so the air streams on him. It's summer so if you have air conditioning it's refreshing. As the adult you want to keep the balls circulating , as it's entertaining, if baby will let you! It takes December cell batteries ( I think ).

Lots of fun with Elefun!
My baby is only 6 months old, and she loves her elephant! I was worried that it'd be too loud based on previous reviews, but I'd say you'd have to have a really sensitive little one for the sound to bother him or her. It plays cute circus music while it's on, and it runs less than a minute before shutting off so that you can start again if you'd like. I also read other reviews that complained the balls shot out all over the place, but we don't have that problem. Occasionally the balls will miss the ear, but that's part of the fun for the kids: watching and collecting the balls! I'm a teacher, so when I think of educational value, I automatically think about reading/writing/vocabulary; while it doesn't necessarily teach those areas, it is AWESOME for hand/eye coordination! My little girl loves trying to catch the balls as they come out and will hover over the trunk trying to grab the balls. Very fun toy overall!

Very Delightful.
From the mind of an 11 month old - Hi mommy and daddy, are you watching a show? Let me just press this red button. What? I can't hear you? Is this distracting you from your show? Don't worry it only plays for a little bit. See, there it's done. Oh no, the ball didn't blow out. Better press the button again. Pay no attention to my maniacal giggle, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm cute though, right? You find my antics adorable and you can't help yourself. Why are you watching Law and Order anyway? There goes the ball. Good job elephant! Hope the ball doesn't get stuck again. Holy crap! The ball landed in the ear and now it's back in the trunk. Is this accurate elephant anatomy? Okay, I'll just press it one more time. The show is nearing the climactic ending? Just one more press. It is hard to resist.

Classic Classic Classic
The ball popper will go down as on of the most beloved toys of this generation. I like this one better than the regular one that is not animal shaped. I think it's more attractive. The balls can pop up and go either in the right side (as you're facing it) and go back into the popper. Or the left side, where they fall down to the belly. Plays fun music that isn't overly annoying. Has a volume switch off too. My 1 year old loves to push the big red ball and stand above this while it blows his face. He hasn't figured out where he needs to put the balls yet. He just likes to set the on the trunk and watch them float, not put them in the ear so they can pop up. Great fun, if we can keep track of the balls!

Decent toy with a good concept
It seems like a perfect toy for a kid that like to pick things ups and put them in other things, and really the idea is sound and when it works it is great. What I have found to be the case is that the blower for shooting the balls out is a bit too weak and sometimes the balls kind of just hover in the end of the trunk instead of shooting out for retrieval. This is even on fresh batteries. That and the fact that it takes 4 C batteries is a bit much for a weak blower. You can also position the trunk so that it aims the balls in whichever direction you want. Even in such a way that it shoots them back into an ear to be shot again, creating an endless (for 15 seconds) loop.It does play some sounds which is fun and nice and it also runs in increments of about 10-15 seconds. So kid pushes button and blower turns on with music playing for about 15 seconds then it powers off until kid pushes the button again. This helps preserve batteries as a young kid is not going to turn off their toy. Another negative is that it is a bit loud. As a parent I always appreciate a volume selection on toys for my daughter. It is not terrible but enough to be noticed.Pros:+ Auto power off+ Cool little songs+ Great when working rightCons:- Battery Hog- Weak Blower'- No volume adjustment.

Great fun even without balls
My son absolutely LOVES this toy. Yes, you are going to have problems with losing the balls, but we have so many balls of a comparable size that we never have to look far to find one. I'm pretty sure you could find a reasonable facsimile for cheap if you absolutely had to, but my baby likes playing with it without the balls, anyway. When he learned that pressing the button makes music and blows air, he had a blast with or without the balls. We've had it for five months now and he's still playing with it, which makes it worth the money in my book.
