This thing is a great, cheap little board that you can use as a beginner to learn, or else as a seasoned veteran of the game looking to play a quick game with a friend. The wood is solid and feels nice, and the grid on the board looks nice and like it could last a good long while. On the back, there's a nice felt surface that keeps the board from scratching surfaces it's placed on. The pieces are simple single convex melamine that come in plastic bags stuffed into flimsy tubs. The pieces are actually great and quality. Some have some scuffs, but it's no big deal, since this isn't the most extravagant set in the first place. The biggest gripe I have with the set is that the plastic tubs don't have snap-on lids. I understand that this is more akin to the traditional bowls that one would draw yunzi from, but seeing as how this is a smaller set and it's much more portable, it'd be nice if I could simply discard the bags and keep the stones snapped shut in the tubs only. As it is, however, it's not a deal breaker. All in all, this is a great little set for anyone looking to get into weiqui. There's so many reversible 19x19/13x13 boards, that this is a good starting off point so that you can have all three types of boards with the least amount of worry over how many to get or how much storage space to take up. Not only that, but all you have to worry about is buying new boards instead of a whole set of stones too. Obviously they're not yunzi or slate/shell, and the single convex might turn people off; but as a simple matter of having a set, they work better than smaller, crappier pieces that you'd pick up in one of those department store boxes.

Nice little board, felt backing well secured, nicely etched grid(not deep enough to interfere with the way stones sit, unlike some bamboo boards on the market). Also, you get a full set of single convex plastic stones so you can find out how much worse they are than double convex. You buy this, and a 13x13-19x19 reversible board, you have 100% of required equipment to progressively master the game.
