Tough light gear
Haven't broken it yet. Very light and compact for my vanlife. It's a bit slow to loosen the locking nut to change the configuration and then tighten to lock it into working position, yet the mechanism is strong and seems reliable. Biggest problem is it's so small I keep losing it among my other gear! :-)

Worth the weight!
This little shovel is great for backpacking. I tested it on a recent 2 day hike and I feel like it was worth the extra weight. It takes the place of a saw, shovel, pick axe (great for catholes) and the spike can be locked pointed out to give you a little extra protection at night! It’s substantial but pretty light for what it is. Really folds down to a small package. Seems like it will hold up nicely and the pouch is handy to keep dirt off of your gear.

An Army Entrenching Tool, washed on hot.
This isn't easy. I expected a 100% scale e-tool analog. What I got was a garden shovel, with roid rage. I bought this for my work truck bag, so I was disappointed at what I got. But I was up at Government Camp, putting on chains and this Chihuahua of a shovel worked like a dream, picking and shoveling out the ice behind the tires, so I could roll back on to the chains. The blasted thing works, well. I cannot emphasize this enough. Read the entire write up, on every product you want to buy. Get A fact based sense of what it is. And decide from there. This thing is smaller than an E-TOOL. Lighter than an E-TOOL, and just as strong as an E-TOOL. It's place in my work EDC is beyond secured. It is affirmed. Knowing now what I didn't know then, I would absolutely but it again and recommend it to anyone, in need of an emergency shovel type tool. I wouldn't dig a fox hole with this thing, but under the right circumstances, it's worth every cent.

A must-have compact shovel for any serious off-roader
As someone who spends a lot of time off the beaten path, I grabbed this 18" Military Folding Camping Shovel to keep in the rig for emergencies and camp setups. Man, it’s tough and surprisingly handy! The high-carbon steel blade cuts through dirt, roots, and even light brush like a champ, and the folding design means it doesn’t eat up space in my gear stash. It’s light enough to carry but solid enough to handle some serious digging or clearing when I get stuck or need to prep a fire pit. The saw edge is a nice bonus when I need to trim small branches or tough stuff around camp. The handle feels sturdy and grips well, so no worries about slipping when you’re sweaty and muddy. If you’re out wheeling or camping and want a shovel that can pull double duty without weighing you down, this one’s a no-brainer. Just keep an eye on the locking mechanism—it’s solid but check it regularly after heavy use.

Two Sizes, So Choose Carefully
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Nice, well made shovel. However, it is small. If that's what you need go for it. However, double check the measurements, which is something I didn't do well enough. As we are talking really too small to be practical. There are two sizes available so I would recommend the larger one for any practical use.

Update after a couple of months : add a star, abused it with one week at the beach (paint went off a bit, couple of places have rusted but it holds good), after that one week doing excavation in the backyard (more dings but still alive). Ultimately...that is a good product. Used by my son (9) on a riverbank. He gave a couple of blows on a driftwood and it bent (angle = 15%). I was abble to straighen it with blows of my own... Was expecting better quality.

excellent snow shovel for my car. Folds, takes up very little room, It is strong steel, yet big enough for shovelling the car out of the snow. I just hope I don't need to !
