Great fit, easy install!
My first unit that I received didn't have enough relief/ countersink machined into the pocket on the backing plate, didn't leave enough thread exposed for the nut to grab. But the seller was prompt and replaced with a new unit within 24 hrs, and the second kit fit perfectly. The only thing that I would change with their design would be the long machine screw that replaces the trigger pin. It should only have threads at the very end and not the portion thats exposed to the trigger housing but that's minor and I'm OCD. I do recommend blue lock tight if you use your blaster a lot. I'm really happy with the side saddle, it's on my Persuader and now have 14 rounds of double OO and slugs on board! I'd recommend this sidesaddle to all my buddies.

Fits perfectly on my Mossberg Maverick 88
I hate to admit it, but before receiving this in the mail, I watched a youtube video of two 14 year olds installing this on their shotgun and it made installation a breeze! But it fit the Maverick 88 perfectly with no wiggle or play. Installation is easy even without watching 14 year olds fumble around with it. (the video was pretty funny) There are several models of the side saddle, and this one obvioulsy fits six shells, so why not buy the six versus the 5 or 4?! Overall, top quality product! Sturdy plastic shell holder fits on top of solid metal plate that mounts to your shotgun. Plain and simple, easy to use.

Works excellent, very sturdy and reliable
I’ve tried a variety of side-saddles for both Mossberg and Remington shotguns and this is the best one I have found so far. In general these things are a bit pricey, but it’s a one-time purchase per gun, worth it to me. The TacStar holds the shells nice and snug (even under recoil and transportation), yet releases them when you need them. Pull straight up on the rim of the shell and they’ll come right out, yet it’s nearly impossible to knock them loose accidentally. I prefer this design over the stick on/Velcro because it’s an integral part of the weapon. The pins and screws provided make for a secure installation and there is zero rattle or wiggle. This is important whether you’re using it for competition, hunting or home defense. Again, after trying a variety of models this is the one that I will purchase in the future for other shotguns. It’s worth the extra money to me.

Pretty top notch side saddle for Mossberg 590
Got the TACStar side saddle shell carrier for my Mossberg 590. Installation was a snap. The instructions included are easy enough to read and follow and matched the hardware/configuration on my shotgun. I read the top rated review on the product and thought purchasing the extra nut for the long bolt in the trigger assembly sounded like a really good idea. Unfortunately, I received my side saddle in the height of the COVID 19 lockdown, so a discretionary trip to the hardware store was out of the question. As it turns out, I respectfully disagree with the earlier reviewer that said you needed the nut for the second mooring point. The mounting plate for the carrier has two holes. One is for the front screw in the action and the second hole is for the longer trigger assembly bolt. That second hole is threaded, meaning that when you put the longer bolt in, you screw it into the mounting plate. Therefore, there are actually two attachment points for the carrier to the receiver. Blue loctite is a great idea, however, and I fully support that. I may still go get an additional nut for the longer bolt if I'm looking for something to do later on, but the bottom line is I don't think it's needed. If you do, great - get the additional nut. I'm not casting dispersions here or saying anyone is wrong. Merely that the carrier I received had two, not one, attachment points. The plastic carrier itself was a little curved so you had to press down once you attached one end so that the other end's holes would align. The end side screws threaded immediately. The middle ones needed a little persuasion to get the threaded shaft aligned with the holes, but they eventually went in ok. I have NOT used the gun since I installed it, so perhaps the ratings change if after 10 rounds the thing is rattling around loose. Based on other reviews, however, I don't expect that to be the case. All in all I have a 6 shot carrier on the receiver, a bandolier shoulder strap, and a full magazine, so I'm pretty loaded up if I ever need it. Good value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or buy another one.

Well-made and easily installed.
Easy installation just go easy on tightening the rear screw as you can warp the receiver and the shotgun will not rack properly. Once I adjusted the torque it worked perfect. I installed this on a 590 mariner that is probably 15 years old or so. The fit and finish was excellent. The extra shells hold tightly in the saddle but are able to be removed easily for quick loading. Very satisfied so far with this product. Shipping was fast I received this in two days.

Works Well On The 590
The install on this product is relatively simple. After you remove the screw from the receiver be sure to lube the hole before attempting to put in the new replacement screw. I did not do this and had to take extra care installing the longer replacement screw. It took a little extra muscle and care to not strip the head of the screw when tightening. Be sure to use blue Loc-tite on the new screws when finishing up. I did not bother using the Loc-tite on the small screws that hold the plastic piece to the installed aluminum bracket. I want to be able to take it off easily while in the field and it seemed to be very secure anyway. Once installed the sidesaddle was very secure and did not interfere with the front stock when cycling it rearward. When shooting I did notice I bumped the last shell in the holder with my lower thumb when cycling the slide rearward. With enough shooting it won't be a problem as I'll become accustomed to it. That last shell hanging down was why I was making contact with my thumb. I have very large hands and I imagine that factored into it. Bottom line...a good quality addition to the M-590 at a great price. It functions as it should, it is fairly simple to install with no "special" tools and looks great if looks matter to. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this unit to a 590 owner.

great product
i bought this sidesaddle for my mossberg 500A. the tacstar model is far superior to the ati model. this shellholder is made from better plastic and is a sturdier design. it comes with easy to understand instructions for several makes of popular shotguns and is quick and easy to install. So the debate continues... is it better to load these sidesaddle holders shotshell brass up or down? those who argue brass up say they are far less likely to drop out or be accidently pulled out. then there is the reload, you have to reach over the top of the reciever then come back down again to the magazine. more secure but slower reload. those who argue brass down say the shells are already "aimed" at the magazine and can be reloaded fast from underneath the reciever. the shells hanging brass down are more prone to drop/loss. faster reload but less secure. you decide. good buy.
