Self-Contained Disaster Kit
I just moved to a hurricane prone area and bought this kit as the basis to my disaster preparedness kit. It is a very extensive kit and I like that it is self contained for easy storage. There were several items that I wouldnt have thought of needing like a utility shut off tool and crow bar but can definitely see the value of. I picked up additional water and shelf-stable food and now feel much more ready for hurricane season.

Excellent beginning emergency kit
It's an excellent place to start your home emergency kit! I think a really well stocked kit would also include garbage bags, ziplock bags, zip ties, more gloves, more water, a larger med kit, and a variety of other things, but this kit has most of the basic essentials like emergency food and water, flashlights, duct tape, radio and etc.If you don't have any emergency preparations, this kit is definitely worth the investment. If you already have some things prepared, you might be better off stocking individual items rather than buying this kit.Still well worth the money!

Adequate supplies
I bought this after a very scary earthquake and added some batteries and placed in a location hoping I never need it. The only thing that I wish it had that it does not is a lid that closes securely so that I could leave it in a covered area outdoors and not have the lid easily opened by kids or accessible to insects/ animals. The toilet seat lid flips right open and leaves a small gap when closed. Otherwise, it seems to have basic supplies in a convenient container.

Great starter kit for the money.
I wasn't sure I wanted to purchase this especially since the shipping was so much, but even taking that into account, if you purchased all these items separately it will still cost you quite a bit more than both purchase price and shipping combined.Things nice to see:- VERY strong crowbar. I was expecting something a little flimsier, but it's not.- Ditto the emergency multi tool.As many others have mentioned the first aid kit is essentially useless. Just bandaids and such. You'll need to add a real first aid kit.All in all well worth the price. It does need to be supplemented with some items, but it's an incredibly decent start for an emergency kit.

Great Survival Kit
This kit arrived quickly and in great condition. The contents are as described and I think the kit is a good value. This kit has the necessary items for a small family to get through the first few days of an emergency, before help arrives. I would recommend this survival kit.

Good for just a single day
I live in earthquake country, but I've never had the emergency kit you're supposed to have. The recent hurricane coverage and having a newborn son convinced me to go get something. I'm not a survivalist, but I wanted something that could be stored outside and I had ambitions that I'd be buying something that would weather me through an immense week-long emergency situation.Just a little thought and research showed me this was unrealistic. This kit is OK for what it is, but really it is made to last for about a day. The CTC recommends a gallon of water/day/person, for example, and all the little bags add up to less than a gallon. It only has enough food for two people for a day. I don't see why it's called a "4 person" kit, the naming is misleading. The bucket isn't sealed well and needs to be protected if stored outside.Ultimately a person putting together an emergency kit needs to think about what they're planning for. A day? A week? Is the house accessible? I planned for a few days of infrastructure being down, with the house perhaps not accessible. I decided this kitDefinitely needs:More water (even if you just want supplies for a single day, I'd still add a few water bottles in the available space)More food (get canned, freeze-dried, or vacuum-sealed)Supplies for children/pets/etc.Should have:A better first aid kitBasic medication like allergy medicine, painkillers, etc.More toilet paper (what's the point of getting a toilet bucket that comes with just a single roll?)Some way to charge cell phone (I didn't get the dinky lamp, but would have replaced it anyway)SoapSunscreenAnd it might be a good idea to have:A camping stove + potA pop-up tentSleeping bagExtra clothesI added these things (many of which I already had in the garage) in a heavyweight rubber-maid bin and put them somewhere safe. I guess I still give a qualified recommendation to this set, but you really should still buy a second bin to supplement.

Good start for beginners
We were very happy with this product. Of course, there are items that we have chosen to add to it to make it more complete. And sure, you could go out and purchase all of this stuff separately and make it yourself, but this was just so much easier in order to get a good start at having an emergency survival kit. Have recommended to friends and family.
