It appears to be working...
The media could not be loaded. Rattling noise - As some have mentioned and shared videos, I've had the same rattling noise when the pump is on. It took me a while to figure out that I had to keep the output hose higher than the intake hose to get rid of the rattling noise. In other words, my output hangs over the edge of the pool and drains into the pool. If I set it like this, I can run it for hours without rattling. I also obstructed the water intake with a mesh fabric, as this seems to help as well.Replacement filter size - The seller indicates the filter is a type A or C. As other buyers have indicated, it's not! It appears to be a type II, which was hard to find. I found it on e bay and I'm yet to receive it. You can wash the filter it comes with several times before replacing it, so that helps with having to replace it often. (UPDATE: Type II filter fits fine.)Has the filter worked for me? Yes. To my expectations? Not so much. As buyers, we shouldn't have to go through these hurdles to keep our pools clean.

2 tries, same failure!
The media could not be loaded. I bought one, and set it up pretty easily. Not much to it, put one tube in one hole in the pool, the other tube in the other hole, connect them both to the pump and turn it on. It made a horrible repetitive clicking noise, which, as a mechanic, made my skin crawl. I thought maybe the filter was loose, so I capped the tubes, opened it up and realigned everything. Tried it again, same result. Loud clicking. So I let it run for a minute to see if it would stop making the noise and I checked it all out while it was running. I tilted the pump, gave it a little shake, made sure the hoses weren't crimped or blocked, everything checked out but it was still clicking. I turned to the comments here for the product to see if there was any help and I saw mention of the drain cap on the top of the filter. So I went back out and tried again, loosening the drain cap until water came pouring out, still clicking. Every now and then it would stop clicking for a second and that's when I realized that when it was clicking it wasn't even sucking any water through! When it stopped clicking for a second, it shot a surge of water through like it was trying to start up, but then went right back to clicking and figuratively sucking instead of literally. I build car engines, so a simple pump should have been just that.So I asked Amazon for a replacement. Super easy process, btw, it couldn't be more convenient unless Amazon picked it back up!Today I got the new pump! I went outside and hooked it up, looking over everything to make sure it all fit together correctly, with no gaps or faults. It all looked fine... Just like the first one. I turned it on, and the all too familiar clicking! I take a deep breath and keep from kicking it and throwing it into the Pacific. I calmly look it over again, making sure everything is tight and unobstructed.Loud clicking, no suction. Failure.I like to think I'm a fairly intelligent and capable human, but this pump has gotten the best of me. I just want a refund so I can try a different brand all together. I also bought a submersible heater to warm the pool water, and THAT broke soon after I got it as well, so I'm a little bitter about my aquatic situation at the moment. Ugh.

Not a bad pump, good as a second pump.for a 8' 30" above ground pool
I bought this to run as an additional pump to my summer waves 8' 30" deep above ground pool. Super easy to install, hoses are the same size, so no additional hardware needed, I'm getting way more power to circulate the water now. The pump did start making a rattling noise within the first 2 weeks, I turned the pump off, let it sit and the noise would stop. Then after a month it wouldn't stop rattling, so I took it apart to see if something got stuck or the propellor broke. Turns out the propellor was jammed a little, it was hard to turn, I took it out, put it back in, gave it a few good turns and now it works great. Easy fix, you only have to remove 3 screws, twist the bottom and the propellor is exposed.I don't know how good it would be on bigger pools, which is why I gave it 3 stars, mine is as little as they come, but my water is crystal clear.

If there was a ZERO star i would've chose it .
I have no idea how they can sell this , it leaks constantly. I'm not talking about a little water here and there , gushing water out of the top. I followed every word of the manual. The center of the lid " floats " with the suction but there's nothing for it to seal to ... I will be returning this . Please do not waste your money or time .

The parts do fit together properly so be prepared...
I got this pump unpacked, hooked hoses to the pump drilled the holes, sealed in the pvc pvc inserts in my stock tank pool only to realized THE FREAKING HOSES ARE AT LEAST A 1/4" TOO BIG So now I get to more parts to piece this crap together. Don't you think the parts should all be the same size or reduce down to the same size?? SMH
