The instructions also explicitly state not to submerge the probe in standing water, which is important to follow. I've seen other reviewers give it a bad rating for not adhering to this guideline, which caused their meters to stop working. To ensure its accuracy, I verified the moisture level with my hand, and it consistently matched the meter's readings. It's nice for my deeper raised gardens to reach to depths that my hand can't. Sometimes the soil would be dry on the top layer but plenty watered a little deeper. Helps avoid getting root rot or things like that. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. It’s a reliable, affordable tool for any gardener looking to maintain optimal soil moisture levels.
