This peeler looks pretty but she's not dumb.
Perhaps peeling tomato and bell pepper is like taking shower every day. You know the right way to do, and you do it when your guests are watching you in the kitchen but you may skip it when you are too lazy and cooking for just yourself. You still want to continue the old way to peel tomato by blanching and bell peppers by putting it in an open flame, just to impress your guests. But you might find this product very useful when no one is watching. This peeler does a fantastic job in peeling tomato, pear, kiwi, bell pepper, and a lot of other things. It's versatile and it can be used with carrots, lotus root, and whatever else as long as you don't mind the lines made by the serrated blades. Personally, I use a separate peeler for those, just to keep this one absolutely sharp for the most tricky soft skins. Now, something I don't like: the product description mentions ginger. I find it pretty useless. You don't need a peeler to peel ginger. Use a tablespoon, table knife, or whatever you find a dull blunt edge to scrape the skin off. You do not need a peeler for ginger. Finally, I might suggest to save the peeled skin of some vegetables: tomato, lotus root, burdock, carrot, apple, pear, etc. Many fruits and vegetables have more flavor-rich compounds as well as nutrients in the skin, and the vegetables I mentioned above add flavor when added to the pot when making stock, particularly chicken broth or soupe de poisson. I freeze them until I accumulate enough to make a hearty soup in a cold Boston winter day. However, the skin of many fruits and vegetables are coated with wax containing fungicide and/or pesticide to prolong shelf life. Not a lot of them to be dangerous, but I recommend to scrub them in warm soapy water and rinse them before peeling if you use the skin for the stock.

Kitchen Essential
The Zyliss Soft Skin Peeler is definitely an essential tool for the kitchen. I have used it to peel tomatoes, pears, mangoes, and ginger with excellent results. The swivel head makes it easy to follow the shape of the item, even the ginger, the sharp serrated teeth on the blade easily grips the skin, and the tip does a great job of removing bad spots from produce. I recently peeled really soft mangoes with it, expecting that it would be a mess, but the peeler took away the skin with no problem, and the mangoes were left intact. It's refreshing to have tools that aid in food preparation and that deliver consistent results. Anyone that uses soft skinned produce will appreciate this peeler. The impeccable performance and the easy grip handle make the process of peeling soft skinned fruits and vegetables much easier.

The coolest little gadget....
I've always loved fresh peach cobbler but hated to peel peaches. The scoring of the little x on the bottom, plunge into boiling water for a minute, then plunge into ice water and the skins slip right off....never worked for me. I struggle for a half hour to pull the skin off the peach, and the boiling water makes them mooshy. Enter this peeler. No need to score and plunge, just peel! The serrated edge grabs the fruit peel and holds on. The peach stays firm, and I get done in a fraction of the time. Only one word of caution: These blades are SHARP! I actually keep the little white cover on my peeler in my drawer and snap it on right after I'm done with it. This is one of the coolest kitchen gadgets they've come up with in a long time!

Works so well... one of the best purchases I've ever made
This peeler is just an unbelieveably handy tool in the kitchen! It removes the peels easily on some things I was never able to peel properly before. I even used it on kiwi-fruit and it did an awesome job.For fruits like peaches, nectarines, and apricots, it just makes peeling a breeze. And I also love it for things like very thin-skinned potatoes (like red potatoes or Yukon Golds).I wouldn't want to ever have to again make a meal without having this peeler available in the kitchen!

Amazing!
I couldn't imagine why people could be so in love with a kitchen device, until I bought this peeler! It is truly amazing - I use it on peaches, pears, ginger, tomatoes, etc. and it works even on overripe fruit. Not only a time-saver, but a fruit-saver as well, since only the thin peel is removed. Be careful - the blade is very sharp (I wish I had saved the plastic blade cover as another review did). Excellent product!
