Excellent vest for the price. Well constructed, fits accurately, has many smart pockets, and very warm. Have other Outdoor Ventures products and they are all very well made and perform very well under a variety of weather conditions. Highly recommend this company and their products.

I've never been a "vest guy" but I bought this because I needed something in between a jacket and a grid fleece for layering in fall and winter backpacking trips. It's become one my favorite pieces of seasonal kit and has great utility. It blocks wind, is water resistant, keeps my core warm while allowing me to release heat so that I don't sweat while wearing it. The 2-way zipper is an amazing feature. If you get too hot while hiking but know you will get too cold if you take a layer off, then zip up from the bottom and let heat out! The pockets are perfect for storing gloves, phone, glasses, water filter when you want to keep it close to your body so it's doesn't freeze in cold weather. On one trip my backpacking air pillow developed a leak, and I turned this vest inside out and and folded it up and the fleece lining functioned as a suitable pillow. I also like the way it looks and feels. I'm 5’10 170lbs athletic build and the medium fits perfect. I can wear it on the trail or to the office. Good selection of colors to choose from. I like this thing so much I told my wife I'm gonna be bummed when the weather warms up and I no longer need to wear it.

I got this vest on Black Friday and did not pay much attention to the features. My plan was to use it as a tester for an embroidery machine we are using to place logos on clothing. Wow. It is NICE. I am very surprised. This is a nicer vest than the Columbia ones we were planning to embroider and it costs less than half. In fact, the Columbia ones end up stretching and this one does not. The vest has very good insulation for Texas. Pockets are everywhere: right and left breast pockets on the outside and one on the inside. There are also two deep pockets inside the vest, and the hand pockets are both insulated and zippered. The vest has elastic draw cords in the bottom hem. The outside fabric feels very nice and durable. The color (gray) is true to the pictures. I’m pleasantly surprised at the quality of this vest and have zero qualms recommending it. It is not going to be our tester…I’m wearing it right now. UPDATE: I am 5’10.5”, 150, size 40R jacket. I got a large but it is definitely too big, even as a layer over a sweater. Medium or small for me, next time. Hopefully, they’ll go on sale again. I advise sizing DOWN from whatever jacket fits you normally (no sleeves, so no worries there). I have a flat belly so your mileage may vary if you don’t. I am about to order a small in a new color. I wear the vest over a shirt. If I had anything thicker than a shirt under it, I would go for the medium. Note that the model in the pictures is reported to be 6’2” and 190 pounds. He’s wearing a medium. So, I think the size recommendations are completely wrong unless you have a larger stomach. But, after almost a year, it is still in perfect shape and I remain amazed at the useful features of this vest. Pockets and zippers galore and extra thoughtful features, like zipper cover and drawcord in the hem. It is a nice vest. Easily worth more than it costs. Update: I got a second one, this time in blue. Easily better than my Orvis, Columbia’s and Magellan ones. Water sheds off it. This time I got a medium. It fits good, but I could wear a small as long as it is just over a shirt. I’ll stick with medium. My measurements are still the same as above. I’m constantly amazed at how well these hold up and the features they have.

I wanted a vest with pockets for an upcoming trip. In particular it needed storage for a phone, passport, and maybe a few other odds and ends. This vest did meet those needs, though not perfectly. The vest fit well enough when empty and didn’t feel tight at all. Movement was unrestricted. Once a phone was added to the chest pocket though, it was apparent there was something there. Not a deal breaker but I’d have preferred the phone to be a bit more concealed. Besides the ample zippered chest pocket there was a Velcro-closure chest pocket of nice size and a couple of open internal pockets that could have been used for a tablet, though without a top closure. There was also a sizable internal zipper pocket with pass-through for wiring. Add two, external zipper pockets on the sides and that rounds it out. I was expecting the vest to be lighter-weight than it is. The quality seems to be there, the zippers work well, and the color suited me. I did find that it was a bit warmer than I expected. We were traveling in upper 60°-70° weather and, because it doesn’t breathe well, it got a little warm. Not uncomfortable but I wasn’t expecting that. It will have use beyond just for travel as it looks nice, fits well, and has plenty of pockets.

Excellent quality. Keeps me warm with good protection from wind. I am 5' 10" 145 lbs -- the medium was too bulky and baggy so I returned and got a small. I can wear the small over a light fleece jacket or sweatshirt. The small fits good . . . snug enough to keep the wind out without being constricting. Zipper quality is good, love all the pockets. The lining is soft on the skin. I wear this hiking and biking.

This vest was everything I was looking for. Warm but not bulky. Lots of pockets. Double zipper so I don’t have to unzip the entire vest to drive. I live in the Northeast USA and have dogs so lots of chilly early morning walks. Because it’s light, thin yet warm, it’s a perfect undergarment for a more typical cold weather outer garment. Checks all the boxes on what I was looking for.

I really like this vest. Well made. Double-zipper that permits bottom release. Three front zippered pockets and another velcroed. Nice style. Collar is lined and fits well. I’m 5’7” and weigh 155. Reading about the fit from others my size, I ordered a small and it fits perfectly for my purpose. I can wear a couple t shirts under it and it’s snug but not tight. Plan to use for cool golf days with a long-sleeved athletic shirt.

I’m a school bus driver in Canada. This vest has lots of pockets, wallet, keys, phone, flashlight and pockets big enough for gloves. It’s warm enough on its own for cool mornings in fall and spring and when the cold weather arrives it will be comfortable as a layer between a hoodie and jacket. It’s a great length, covering my waist, kidneys, lower back, very important when the Canadian winter arrives. It seems well made, I like the colour and the fit. I’m 6’1”, about 225 lbs. It was a good purchase.

Great Vest for an extra layer when it gets real COLD outside. Nice and Warm , Comfortable and Fits Good. Sized right and looks good!
