Another fantastic cookbook full of delicious recipes that are easy to ...
The Spork Sisters have done it again. Another fantastic cookbook full of delicious recipes that are easy to follow. I love how some of the "go-to" recipes have additional "variations" to shake things up!!! It's something that I've been really wanting in other cookbooks and recipes, so this is a fantastic addition. This is the perfect cookbook to give to someone who is interested in becoming a vegan/vegetarian, someone who wants to add more vegetable-based meals into their diet or for someone wanting to cook for plant-based friends/family. Heather and Jenny spent a lot of time making substitutions easy to understand and the differences between products commonly used in a veggie diet. I'm grateful for all the handheld recipes which are perfect for parties or appetizers, and as someone who is gluten intolerant, I found the cookbook very GF friendly. The Baja Avocado tacos are one of the most amazing things I've ever made. My non-veg friends devoured them, and I've already made them twice this week!!! I also had to make the Toasted Marshmallow-Pecan Milkshake because with a name like that, not to mention the photo in the book, how could I not?? And yes, it was insanely good.

Delicious and Easy!
Delicious and Easy! I absolutely love this book. I'm a total kitchen novice, always following the recipe. Repeatedly I am amazed that I can make such yummy food that is healthy and my carnivore boyfriend absolutely loves. We both find ourselves saying, "I can't believe this is Vegan." I would definitely recommend this cookbook to carnivores who want a new tasty and healthy spin. For my first Vegan 101 recipe, Velvety Kale Soup, I decided to go super healthy to see if the final result was equally yummy. Packed full of kale and spinach, I had my doubts, but the soup was beyond delicious. Finally a way I can actually eat kale!I also love how the first recipe of each section provides multiple variations of the recipe because 1) If you don't dig Velvety Kale Soup you can make Creamy Butternut Squash Soup and 2) The multiple variations helps me learn the overall recipe better for making faster in the future. So far I've made 5 different dishes, and I can't wait to dive in more. The ideas and recipes are super clever and varied for so many occasions. Vegan 101 is definitely becoming my go-to cookbook. Thank you Spork Foods - Heather & Jenny!

The Spork Sisters Do It Again!
Jenny and Heather of Spork Foods do it again...Vegan 101 is an amazing follow-up to their first cookbook, Spork Fed. This is not just a cookbook; it is like being in class with them and cooking great food and learning how easy it is to be vegan. While their warmth and passion shine in this book, they have also included lots of tips from other students to help people make or keep their commitment to go vegan. And then there is the food!! My first recipe to try was the Asian corn soup...delicious and easy. There are recipes for every meal, along with help in how to plan delicious and balanced menus. This is a must-have book for both the new and experienced vegan...or someone who just wants great plant-based recipes!

In love with this book!
This book really does inspire you to just start cooking! Recipes are EASY but make you feel fancy when serving them. With dishes inspired from all over (the Thai salad rolls and the Argentinian empanadas are two of my favorites), party menu suggestions, loads of nutritional information, a great intro to “vegan vernacular”, this book is just a treasure of great resources and inspiration that I know I will be relying on regularly. Thank you, Heather Bell and Jenny Engel for sharing your knowledge, creativity, and beautiful spirit in this book!

OK...but for first time out, I'd invest elsewhere
I am coming up on my one year anniversary of becoming Vegan, and I was very intrigued by this cookbook and the various reviews on it. When I got it, there were many tempting recipes that sounded fairly easy and delicious. They are easy to make, but lack flavor. I always try a recipe as written first, so I can give it an honest review. I have not tried EVERY recipe yet, but have with several, including the tortilla soup and vodka pasta sauce, and found all to be lacking. And like other reviewers, found this to be full of processed ingredients.I think the title of Vegan 101 is very misleading. If you are new to cooking in general, this is probably not the way to go. Recipes also have a lot of ingredients, and not all are cheap or easily accessible (at least in my area). You'd have to order online - so plan ahead if you do decide to purchase.I'd like to think people are not only switching to a vegan lifestyle to be healthy, but to save animals as well, and I think if you make these recipes for meat loving friends, you would not impress anyone - the best reaction I have received is "these are OK."Over all - I'd save your money, and Google some recipes. It is very easy to convert delicious and free recipes to vegan.

Better Than Expected
I almost didn't read through this book after seeing the author's extensive use of foods I don't care for -- like tofu, tempeh and seitan -- but I decided to give it a chance. I'm glad that I did as I found many recipes that I want to try. I especially interested in the many recipes that offer me delicious non-dairy options.

Good Information and Recipes
I got this cookbook, because my son has decided to be vegan, but has done little to eat properly. The book starts with good information regarding various vegan ingredients, and how they can be used to replace animal products, and as a source for basic nutrients. Though I haven't started cooking, the recipes look great, with several alternatives for each (Ingredient/seasoning variations). According to my Kindle (for PC), the recipes start at the 12% mark, in the book. The only thing close to an animal product was a Pink Lady (apple). I'm looking forward to trying out these recipes, with the whole family.

I had to scroll through about 1/4 of the book ...
I had to scroll through about 1/4 of the book before getting to the first recipe. It started with vegan butter but does not explain what vegan butter is. Next recipe includes animal products and that is not vegan at all. Vegan 101 is not vegan!!!
