Q: Will the non-slip tape on the bottom of the bowl be damaged when washing the bowl in the dishwasher?

it probably will be damaged. It is just slipped on. You probably could remove and put it back on but I don't think it would hold up to that much off and on repeatedly. If you put it in the dishwasher often don't expect it to last long. It is very slim, cheap and I don't think it will hold up to hand washing much. I like the bowls for what I needed them for but I don't expect them to last long. They are cute and metal..got me away from plastic for my outside kitty I feed at night but I don't think they would last under my regular household use for my own 4 cats.

Q: Anyone found that the rubber base has a strong smell? I had to take them off they smelled so bad.

Can't say it was specifically the rubber, but yes, upon opening there was a very strong industrial chemical smell. Washing w/ soap & water didn't remove it, but spraying alcohol and wiping revealed a dark-colored oil coating - that did help.

Q: Is this cat bowl suitable for wet food or cat treats?

Yes it is but I had to remove the rubber portion on the bottom because no amount of washing it got rid of the petroleum smell and my cats wouldn't go near the bowl because of that. I use it for wet food.
