Q: Will this fit a remington 870 compact

It fits at the end of the barrel next to or over the bead. I see no reason why it should be any different with the compact if you have a standard bead sight.

Q: will this fit a browning silver 12 ga ?

Each of the sights states the width of the rib that they fit. You have to measure the width of your rib and decide. Great sights I use them on all my guns for duck hunting in low light conditions.

The one I purchased was for a 5/15 rib. You need to do some checking to make sure yours will fit a 1/4 vent rib. By the way the magnets that hold the sight to the rib will not hold the sight in place. I put one on my shotgun that I use to shoot trap and the sight flew off after twenty minutes of shooting. I added a couple drops of Gorilla glue to hold it in place and it's good to go. Been two years with no problem.

Q: on a narrow mag. sight is .218 the same as 1/4 inch?

.225 is 1/4 close enough should fit only .007 difference
