I have not used the splitter. It was purchased in error apparently. I was looking for a splitter that has the opposite functionality. As to connect multiple gaming consoles (outputs) to 1 television (input). The purpose of this item, however, is to split 1 input to 4 outputs. So based on this, there would be no auto switch necessary.
