An important book, among other by helping our microbiomes when rethinking about the Western diet.
In the book there are many remarkably point to realize. For example on the side 144 we are told that we are using too much soap, and what’s wrong with this, so that we ought to stop taking soap when taking bath, and only washing the hair once a week.In addition, on the side 97, we learn that at as we are prescribing the children large amounts of antibiotics then they thereby are at much higher risk for obesity later in life. And actually I tell my Thai wife that the stomach/yeast problem for which she now during 2 months have visited doctors for, are the result of too much use of antibiotics, but the doctors have not mentioned a single word about this. And on the sides 104-106 we read about how Robynne, during pregnancy, while having a flu, and then during the following first year for the child, again and again, by the doctors, was put on antibiotics for “Just in case”. But had resulting problems, and she then, as other mindful persons, discovered only to take antibiotics in absolutely necessary cases. And in the connection between obesity and lean, it is interesting on the side 94 to read about the bacteria called Christensenellaceae, identified by researchers, which seem to help people to stay lean.So all together an important book with much important content, and actually therefor I ordered one more book written by her.

Interesting read with Pros and Cons
I first heard of Dr Chutkan on a few different podcasts and was impressed with her. I liked her "Live dirty, Eat clean style" of thinking. Now that I've read this book, I don't agree with all the things, but definitely a lot of good take aways. For myself, I don't feel I have any major issues currently, but struggle with adult acne and sugar cravings. I found the information in this book very helpful for both issues. And feeling hopeful that I'll see some improvements.Like several reviews, I have heard quite a bit of the information before from others in this same space. What is new to me is the living a little more dirty piece. I had cut back on shampooing to twice a week, but she recommends only once. Also minimal washing of face and body.I have had a garden for nearly 20 years now, so that's all good. I have an indoor herb garden too. Maybe will add a few plants.Cons for me are some of the diet information. Agree with all the veggies and fruits, but it can be hard for everyone to buy everything organic. It's just too expensive. I disagree with her eliminating certain vegetables like white potatoes and corn. Both are sources of resistance starch. In fact, all beans contain resistant starch but she only suggests white beans and lentils. Also, many cooked and cooled starches contain resistant starch and she doesn't mention them. She also omits all gluten containing foods. This might be important for celiac, but there is no definite research to say this applies to the entire population. There is no benefit obtained. In fact, you are omitting sources of high fiber foods. She also briefly mentions an issue with Soy. Claiming there was more estrogen in her child's soy formula than 5 days of birth control pills. This is so incorrect I almost quit the book at this point. All told the benefits of the book outweigh the cons of the diet information. You can certainly find better other places. The stories she adds are very helpful and really get the points across.

We've come a long way baby! Finally someone who explains the reason I had Eczema and other chronic skin problems my entire life.
This book was validation that we can in fact be our own health advocates. After all, we know what's best for our own bodies. I healed my microbiome with the help of Dr. Robynne after being really sick for over a year. AMA Dr.s and their standard protocols only made me sicker, plus they said there was no cure and never said a word about diet. This book also has fabulous recipes that are easy to live by for those of us who live Paleo or ketogenic. I also have loved loosing 30 lbs. Dr. Chutkan knows her stuff and makes the subject interesting. My dermatologist was telling me I didn't know what I was talking about on my first visit. On my 2 nd visit to get pathology results I went in with book in hand...I felt so I empowered! He finally heard me, backed off telling me to take more drugs and admitted they caused numerous side effects. I'd read anything by doc robynne, she rocks!

Probiotics from drug store beneficial and practical
As an RN, I was interested in this book. She kinda poo poos the idea that you can get probiotics from CVS or Walgreens to be effective. I found a profound difference when incorporating them into diet and they come in gummies which is more palatable. My (34 year old) daughter recently had a disruption in her digestive track creating lots of gas and belching, it was out of control. I advised the over the counter Probiotics Gummies by Nature's Bounty and she experienced gradual relief until the whole experience finally subsided over a matter of two months. Guess it works, and it does not take years to build up in your gut, like she suggested. The awareness that the book creates is beneficial but I did not find any practical solutions other than some recipes. Maybe I will re-read it, I may have missed some important points.

Very readable
It's the only book that I know of that explains fecal transplants. Some books are written in technical terms and run on sentences, which are boring. This book is very likeable & easy to read. It's got a lot of good recipes too.
