Best primer for old exposed wood.
This is is a great primer for wood that is in bad shape. I used it for the exposed wood on this old shed. The door was in pretty horrible shape and I put on a couple of thick coats to seal up all the little cracks. The door was jade green before I put the Peel Bond primer on it (see photo). Peel Bond goes on milky , it feels like you're painting with Elmer's glue. It dries kind of milky, kind of clearish. It lays a thick flexible membrane over the questionable wood underneath. I also used an airless sprayer to shoot it under the eaves where there is wood that is exposed. For the top coat I used Van Sickle Barn paint (see photo). This is a red paint with some kind of fantastic pigment that will not fade to pink.

Awesome bonding primer
We used it last year to paint our 100+ year old house. We scraped the loose and used this. It's the best of it's type. We only got 1/2 the house painted before weather and not being able to source the primer. My husband even contacted the manufacturer and was told July or August. I couldn't believe when I found it here. The seller shipped it and was here with in a few days. We are so happy.

Good product
We used this to prime our new T1-11 exterior siding before a high quality latex paint. The stuff really absorbs paint, so we went through more than we thought we would. For two coats, we used two of these 5-gallon buckets for a small house with lots of windows. It goes on very thick. We ended up with a solid surface to work with so that our finish paint didn't get absorbed into the wood. It sat around for a while before we got to our finish painting, and held up in the rain and sun without cracking or peeling or changing in appearance. So far our exterior finish paint has held up nicely.

A great product
I have 12" wide redwood lap siding that was installed vertically and the expansion/contraction of the wood had opened up the joints. This product is like a very flexible "liquid caulk" that fills in the gaps and it sticks to virtually anything. The bond is much stronger than normal primer. It's not inexpensive but, considering the cost of painting a house, it's very worth the cost.

Great for rolling, difficult in an airless sprayer.
Great product, I subtracted one star because I found it really hard to spray in my airless sprayer. I found it hard to control with the sprayer it goes on really thick didn't penetrate into the cracks very well. I am also not a professional painter, so it could also be my technique. It rolls on very nicely though and the roller helped push it into the cracks much better. I give it 3 stars for spraying and 5 stars for rolling. The pictures are before and after. One rolled on coat of peel bond, one sprayed on topcoat of Behr Marquee exterior satin. For some of the really bad areas, I used two coats of peel bond before top coating. Would definitely recommend.
