Worth Every Penny
This is my second mitre saw, replacing a non-sliding DW. After significant research and consideration, I selected this Metabo based on performance, features and reviews. Price was a strong factor and this unit fell into a very affordable range. I use it primarily for custom furniture, cabinetry, and I'm currently about halfway through a large deck project.UNBOXINGI agree with other reviews about less than adequate product packaging. Mine came with a large dent in the box, but after a bit of breath holding when unboxing I was relieved to find there was no damage to the Saw itself.SETUPI purchased this along with a DW Portable Saw Stand and was able to securely mount the saw to the stand without modifications or substitute hardware. I have used it extensively without any stability issues.Instructions for setup were clear and easy to follow. That said, my saw bevels were accurate and square right out of the box - it was obvious that assembly workers weren't rushed when calibrating setup parameters. I used scrap wood and went *slowly* when making the initial square and bevel cuts through the plastic parts in the table and fence assemblies. None of the inserts blew out.I'm right handed and this saw is comfortable to use. The power lock-out button is situated on the left side of the D handle right where my thumb sits which makes it easy to depress when using my right hand. However, I occasionally use my left hand and I find that this approach is quite awkward. The slides are absolutely effortless. There is an integrated vice on the left side that has a simple screw-down design which is motion-inefficient and would be more useful with a quick-release lever design and matching vice on the right side of the table. For stock support I use those provided by the DW stand which extend out to 2 feet on either side so I can't really comment on how much support those in the Metabo saw provide. This saw does the primary job of powering through anything I've put on it - including thick hardwoods and moist, pressure treated 4×4's - cleanly and accurately. And it does so both squarely and through the range of bevels and angles I've set. I'd rate dust collection without a vacuum attached as average. So far, overall, I am VERY pleased with my decision to buy this unit over all the others I researched at this price point. My only regret is not selecting the model equipped with the laser guide but I'm looking into retrofit options.I would not hesitate recommending this product.

Great Saw (read on for mounting issues and fixes)
As other posters have stated great saw, but mounting issues. Pics depict saw mounted on WEN Saw Mount. The saw as mentioned only has front mounting holes thus making it a little unstable. Although it sits on the brackets it does rock back and forth due to only having front bolts. Stating with my first pic I bought the following denoted in pic one (you will need an additional bolt and nut for the center mount.) I took the steel bracket measured and cut into 2 pieces was about 13" each (why did I do this, because the single piece had a little flex to it, the 2nd stiffened it up significantly). Pic 2 shows a rear center hole. With what I purchased the bracket and center hold all matched up. Just attach all hardware as shown and tighten. Final picture shows the finished product. I personally would have liked to use a thicker steel bar and drill the holes but this was a quicker solution to get there. I gave it a 4 on portability, as its a little heavy at 50lbs. All and all works great, I did by a set of diablo blades for it, not going to waste my time figuring out if the stock blade is decent will save it for another project. I had my old saw for 25yrs now and am getting ready to redo 2 bathrooms, flooring and the kitchen so wanted a new saw for the task at hand. Figured Id treat myself."

Pro saw with some issues
I'm a professional finish Carpenter and this saw has a lot of positives. Old school size, vertical handles, good sight lines. And after a bit of fiddling, very accurate with little slide wobble. The issues are a couple the adjustments on the saw require a lot of tools there's no onboard storage for wrenches and importantly there's no way to mount this unit to standard brackets so you have to build something I made mine out of plywood so it really wasn't the end of the world but just understand that if you buy this unit you're going to have to make some modifications any standard racking situation that you want to be portable .Also an issue is the crown stops that come from a Metabo do not lock in very positively so this is not like running the DeWalt crown stops that are just a very easy install. You may be better off just building your own crown stops for each job when you're cutting it but for a professional finish carpenter this thing has all the power , a smooth motor and is ridiculously accurate once you get it dialed in***Update. The left side crown stop was fine but the right side mount holes were different. I simply tapped out a new screw hole and it's good. See pics . Very odd though

Good for the price
My first sliding miter saw. Proven design from Hatachi, made in China for considerably less money after Metabo bought Hatachi. Shipped from nearby warehouse by private contractor, and arrived in good condition. Nice 40 tooth blade makes perfect cuts, and very square right out of the box for me. With the discount not much more than inferior saws, and far less than other name brand units. Only used for test cuts during setup so far so time will tell, but I'm happy with the deal.
