Fabulous!
Great story. Wonderful repartee between king and maxwell, very little "bad" language which is so refreshing. I could read Baldacci all day long.

Decent Story, Good Read
Just to start out, I will say I'm a fan of the show, King and Maxwell on TNT. I mention this to draw a distinction between the TV show and the book. While both are based on the same characters, they are very different, in a number of ways. I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other, just that they take the same starting point, and handle them differently. For instance, the characters act and relate to each other very differently. Their relationships are different in the book than the show. While reading, I kept finding myself picturing the dialog with the actors on the show. But the dynamic is different between King and Maxwell. Edgar is handled differently. I had to force myself to take a mental step back and disconnect the book and the show, so that I could judge it on its own merits. As to comments on the story itself, I'll avoid spoilers (sorry if this makes some statements a bit vague)...As to the book, I found it to be a pretty interesting story. The plot itself is fairly involved and fairly complex, a bit convoluted as well. The end result of the of the plot is, unfortunately, far too possible. The means by which the plot is set in motion and enacted is a bit of a stretch. I tend to dislike stories that require somewhat random chance for the characters to be able to accomplish what they are trying to do. In this case, the ability of the villain to put his plot in motion requires some coincidence in the right conditions being put in place and him knowing about it. However, at least, by the end, he acknowledges that he wouldn't have been able to take the actions he took, if he hadn't come across the situation set up by others. In another case, our heroes indirectly reach out to a contact at the pentagon who just happens to have and be able to share information about a top secret operation that is ongoing. Right. The pentagon is too big and not everyone there (even the higher ups) will know about every classified operation. So I had a problem for a while. However, I must admit that this is also addressed late in the book. So Baldacci is aware of these issues and does address them.I found myself enjoying the interplay between the characters. Though I did get tired of the constant references to how Maxwell's truck is so messy. This was a point that was made far too frequently. At the same time, I felt like their investigative prowess was underplayed. These two were Secret Service agents. They are body guards, yes, but also investigative agents, but those skills were not played up as much as I would have liked.Much like the other Baldacci books I've read, the book itself is very approachable. The story moves along at a decent pace, and continues to drive forward. As a reader, you get enough information to keep you intrigued and interested. All in all, a decent story with a lot of good, but some weaknesses.

One of Baldacci better books
Typical Baldacci, so many twists and turns that kept me guessing! If you enjoy books that aren’t easy to figure out what will happen next, this one is for you. The book isn’t a recent publication but with this author it doesn’t matter, know you will enjoy it!

David Baldacci has saved the best book (of the six) , as the very Best!
I’m a big fan of David Baldacci and I really love it, when he writes a series of books, because the author is able to help me understand, all of the important characters as they develop into people who, at least in my imagination are just as real as some of my friends, living in my Apartment Complex, Summer Haven Senior Apts. In Kentwood, Michigan. I find it very interesting that within all of the apartments, you’ll find good people who have found a way to live together, even though they might have different views about their political, religious and, yes, sexual beliefs. This King and Maxwell series is full of characters who are able to capture your imagination. It’s especially true, when you’ve lived a life that has 60 or 70 years of almost every kind of experience that your imagination is capable of creating! There’s got to be at least one more book, because despite the deep and abiding love that King and Maxwell obviously have for each other, Baldacci, only teases us, when near the end of the book King’s ex-wife Dana tells her how she could see how much she loved Sean, because it was written all over her face. When you’ve got the ex-wife advising her to Not make the same mistake that she made, when she divorced him.I think it’s time for Baldacci to take their relationship to the next level. I’m so aggravated about the way that Baldacci has implied that if the two of them were there for each other 100% of the time, it would destroy, not just their personal relationship’s with both of them, but it would make it impossible to continue working together as P. I.’s.
