Little House on the Prairie: Deluxe Edition

I love this entire series! I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series for anyone who hasn't read them. I first read these as a child, but I still enjoy them as an adult. Even though this is technically book 3, you can read this one first without having any problems missing any back story. This is a real story of a family who went to settle out west and all the challenges they met along the way.

I purchased this book for my daughter for Christmas. She loves little house in the big woods which we have as a paperback and we have gotten little house on the prairie a few times from the library but can not ever make it through it before we have to return. So, I decided we should buy it. My daughter wanted the full color. I actually ended up getting it in full color and the original version with the sketches, both hardcover. I see the appeal of the full color. The images are gorgeous and what little girl wouldn't want to see Laura and her family come to life with color. I personally prefer the regular sketches overall. The full color versions pages are thick and sort of glossy white. The book is very heavy due to the thick pages. Nothing crazy but noticeably heavier than the regular version. Enough that you notice when you pick it up. I know my daughter will love it and I enjoy the color images as well, but I guess I had expected them to be on regular book paper and sort of subdued. They are extremely vibrant and quite lovely really..just different than I had expected. A nice special edition but if you like the feel of the regular pages and the beautiful black sketches you might not be as pleased with the full color version. I'm still going with 5 stars because it will be cherished I'm sure.

Now the setting gets into a little bit political. Laura and her family now settles into the High Prairie. But there lives the Indians. With tense atmosphere, Laura will learn there are some border lines between her people and the Indians. First she wanted to know them from her curiosity, but soon she learns they have their own rules. It's a good book to see the cultural difference.

Such a classic book. I loved all the characters and I could picture life on the prairie. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

When I was a child, I had the entire series of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Books. My babysitter at the time, gave me her set. I was careful to loan out the books one at a time to friends I knew would cherish them as much as I did. I started giving these books to my grandchild, and at first we read them together, then she started reading them on her own. Now, we watch the old television series together, and it brings back memories of our days reading together. We both love the television series as much as we do the books, they portray the life as it was. Maybe not as primitive, but certainly as children , they accept the hard work and the limited income the Wilder's have. This family is a superb e ample if a hapoy family, their ups and downs, and they have many, and the manger in which the family faces each obstacle. An excellent example of a true family life. I’m almost 11 years old, and I LOVE the little house series! This book is my favorite! Sometimes, it gets sad and Laura learns a lesson. She gets older and it is sad. Did you know she wrote those books so that kids can learn what it is like to be a pioneer? That’s so amazing! Please read this book and her other books! God Bless!!!🤍🤍🤍

やさたく学習に切り替えて、Dora the explorer、Doraemon、Totto-chanの次に適当な教材が見つからないと思っていました。 北米版アニメはあまり頭に入りませんでしたが、 改めて昔買ってあまり聞き取れず、聞いていなかったこのCDを聞きなおしてみました。 すると、結構聞き取れるではありませんか。しかもあの面白い内容が！ 内容が変化に富むこと、臨場感があること、難しい単語がほとんどないこと、会話の内容も多いこと、 やさたく学習にぴったりです。 聞き取れなかった2年前は以下のような感想を持っていました。 英語は発達段階にあった教材が要るんだ、わかる、楽しい、と思える内容でないと続かないし、進歩もない、とつくづく思います。 Radio Drama ではありません。女性の朗読は単調です。子供の寝物語のような感じの読み方で、あまり明瞭とは言い難く、学習者は寝てしまうかもしれません。 BGMが入っている部分もありますが、臨場感はあまりありません。 価格は1300円程度と大変に安いです。ケースは紙です。

Read it while I was 12 in the US INFORMATION SERVICE LIBRARY. It was an highly abridged version for juveniles only. Enjoyed it enough to remember both authors name and title of the book. Determined to get a copy myself oneday got it at Amazon. Very heartening to know that a whole lot of people think highly about this book the same way I do.(see Amazon.com reviews). However 56yrs later I find the unabridged version,though good by itself not suitable for my age.Pity.

Wonderful book. It seems to go back in periods that are impossible to live today, Where everybody was kind with his neighbour and life was more simple and happy than nowadays. This unabridged edition also includes all the original illustrations from a vintage publication. This is the third of the nine books of the Little House series of novels by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am very enthusiastic of this item, even if my copy presented a little scratch on the back cover. Butta, nevermind...
