Booked Graphic Novel: A Graphic Novel (The Crossover Series) Review: Hooked on Booked! - Getting my 10-year-old to read is usually a chore—but Booked completely changed that. He’s obsessed with Kwame Alexander’s books now! The writing style, the rhythm, and the story just click with him in a way no other book has. It’s amazing to see him pick up a book without being asked (and even read ahead when he’s supposed to stop). Booked blends sports, real emotions, and humor in a way that keeps him turning the pages. If you have a reluctant reader, especially one who loves sports or needs a story that feels real and relatable, this is the book to try. Review: Booked - My son really enjoyed this book.

didn't let my 10 year old soccer fan read it.
First, I really enjoyed this book, but I did not let my 10 year old read it. I am reviewing this book for parents wondering if this graphic novel is a good fit for their child. I have not read the full version. Nick Hall is 12 years old, and the content of the book is appropriate for 7/8 grade middle school students. The illustrations and format of the book are very well done. The illustrations look appropriate for a much younger crowd, but the content gets heavy. Nick is intelligent and creative. He has competent, supportive parents and fantastic teachers at school. Nick is cared for by his friends, family, and teachers. But his life is not going well. The ending is believable and full of hope. Spoilers: Nick encounters bullies at school and there are two physical fights. Nick has a love interest based on physical attraction. There is some kissing (not on the lips) and a date set up by and chaperoned by his mother. Nick's parents separate in the book which sends him spiraling and announcing he wished he were dead. His parents respond appropriately by getting him to a therapist. Soccer is a healthy outlet for him though his best friend is on an opposing team.

Great read
5th grade boy loved this boy. Only problem is, he loved it so much he finished all 300+ pages in 2 days.

Interesting
It's not what I expected in a graphic novel but I enjoyed it and the new style.

Parents with morals avoid this garbage
Absolutely garbage. Should not be in schools or read by children. Topics discussed in this book undermine core family values, respect, and basic human decency. Aside from the terrible morals, the stories aren't even good.

If your child has a parent leave them this may not be the book for them
I dislike that the mother is leaving her son for a job. Is parenting over when you get a new job
