Big win for SOG
With this knife, SOG sinks the competition for assisted-opening knives at this price range. I'll take it a step further and say that this outperforms knives I own from a brand in the $150-200 price range, although I won't name names. D2 steel sometimes gets unfair criticism from some knife steel nerds, but they'll criticize just about anything that isn't marketed by their favorite companies. They also only use their knives to open Amazon packages. To test the edge retention of the cryogenically treated D2, I sliced paper, then whittled about two inches off of a piece of balsam wood, came back to the paper and the knife cut right through it the second time. Beats my wood carving knives for wood carving! There's a lot of control in the straight back blade design too, I can guide it through wood like a butter knife through... butter. This is the best example of D2 steel I've ever seen, rock solid and refuses to go dull. Anyhow, back to the knife. The thumb stud is hard to engage at first, due to stiffness. If you push from the bottom at the base of the stud, it will be much easier than if you push from the side or the tip of the stud. It's not a smooth process until the assisted opening kicks in and then the blade really lunges out. The crossbar lock is nice to have, but I find that the knife mechanism is stiff enough that I don't need it. There's no way something in my pocket is going to be strong enough to pop this knife open. Carry at your own risk though. All said and done, a totally bulletproof knife with steel that will not fail you, and it's even nice to look at.

Just buy it, you won't regret it.
As an avid pocket knife collector, and the owner of several SOG knives, I can 100% recommend this awesome knife. It came out of the box as sharp as can be and a month later (without having sharpened it once) it almost took my finger off while using it to open my nephew's Christmas gift. There has yet to be any blade wiggle whatsoever, the lock is easy to access (even while in your pocket), and the blue color is totally awesome. Once again SOG knocks it out of the park.

Great knife!
Very high quality knife made of good materials. I love the assisted opening and it is easy to sharpen. I have had this knife for several years now without any issues.

This is a good knife for the price
The spring really makes the blade jump out fast, it will surprise you the first time you use it, so hold on to it lol d2 is a decent steel, but hard to sharpen, because it’s really hard, and it will rust, so have to keep a little oil on it. But this is a knife that will last a long time. This is a good knife

Quality for cheap
This knife is extremely solidly built, easily worth twice the price. The handle is large enough to be easily used, the blade is confidence inspiring. The blade deploys with a slight nudge of the thumb; the assist spring feels quite strong. Lock up is very solid, no wiggle in the blade and you need two hands to release and fold the blade. It has a positive manual lock, to keep the knife closed while carrying. Solid keeps coming to mind when I hold this knife; get yours before they're all gone!

Two-handed opening operation: Very disappointing
Upon opening the box, I was pleased by the looks and feel of this knife. This is a very rigid knife; no give whatsoever in open and locked position. The belt clip, most times a "hot spot" on and EDC folder, is a fairly low profile, not too bad at all. This knife is not uncomfortable to hold. The con, which outweighs the above listed pros, is the surprising and disappointing inability to open this knife one-handed. Yes, it is a spring-assist, but that feature is pointless if you must use both hands. I'm glad I didn't throw the box away - this will be returned, and my search continues.

Overall good
Pretty good, well built. I chipped the middle of the blade trying to gently pry a 1/2 inch hose off of a slip fitting. So that was a bit disappointing. I’ll rework the edge after I dull it to fix that. It opens great with the flip of the thumb. I do wish it had the flipper instead. Overall great looking sturdy knife. Sharpest knife I’ve ever had out of the box. Overall happy. 9/10
