I need to know if this will work on a chain link fence. After much research online I can't get an answer. Will it work on chain link fence?

I doubt it will make the electrical connection needed for a continuous loop, and lots of places for grounding to happen

im running two runs top and bottom of fence 2200 feet of wire thru 3 spring gates in a continuous run and all i need is one ground rod?

In order to get the best current flow which=the max shock the charger can produce, you need a good ground. if the ground rod is deep enough and the dirt is moist you would get good current flow from the charger. If not, another rod would in theory be like driving a longer rod. You don't want any weeds or branches to touch the hot wires either, they will weaken the shock. Is each wire 2200 feet, or all wires total 2200 feet? all wires should be totaled. More wire increases the voltage drop. ! mile = 5280 feet. The fence tester should help. Connect one wire to the charger and see if it gives a high reading on the tester. then add another and test then another and another to see if the current is still high. That should help answer the need for more ground rods. During dry soil conditions, i pour a bucket or two of water over the ground wire.

How long does the battery last and is it replaceable? I have an older solar charger and it costs more to replace the battery than the charger.

I expect the battery to last for years, though at some point find myself in your same situation but, by then batteries will charge faster and last even longer.
