Highly recommend
What an amazing book. The Author is clearly been through a tough time but has decided to use her knowledge to help others which is amazing. As a mum of an ADHD child this is aMust have for anyone starting the process, has an inkling something might be up or just for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge on the disorder ( especially teachers who have aren’t given the training they need to understand their students). An easy read and so informative. It’s step by step guide to the various areas you will encounter with ADHD diagnoses which is overwhelming when you have no clue what to expect or really what to do after your email had your diagnoses. Thank you to the author Caroline for taking the time to help others like me.

A book with a wealth of information from a highly knowledgeable mum
I bought this book as our family has book looking into medication options for ADHD for our child. I wasn’t disappointed. Not only does the author provide a breakdown of the medications and how they work, but she also gives her own personal experience of medicating her child, and the different effects the various medications have had. This was invaluable insight for me as a parent. Not only did the book discuss medication, it also gave numerous strategies to help a child with ADHD. More importantly for me, the personal insights were just so raw and personal, and gave me an invaluable idea of what to expect from schools, other parents, and the health profession, in having a child with this neurodevelopmental disorder. The anecdotes were utterly heartbreaking to read, and underlined the importance of teaching the next generation to be kind, always. This has certainly not been the experience of the author or her child, and their path has not been an easy one. Highly recommend this book for any family trying to navigate the minefield of ADHD/ASD treatment.

ADHD - A down-to-earth guide
As a retired specialist teacher of children with specific learning difficulties, I think that this book is of great help to a parent or teacher who suspects that 'something is wrong'. Caroline gently guides the reader, first, describing the range of behaviour typically found, then taking them through the stages of diagnosis, possible medication, sleep issues, dicipline and behaviour changes, coping with family life and developing a working partnership with the child's school. She finishes with a useful chapter on general coping strategies. I suggest that a glossary for easy reference would be helpful. As a mother of a child with ADHD, Caroline's experience is invaluable, The personal anecdotes are at times heart-wrenching. This is clearly written by someone who has researched thoroughly and has a wealth of experience to share.I believe that any parent who suspects that their child may have ADHD would find this book invaluable. It also deserves a place in every staffroom.G Rowlands
