How do you tell the date? I can't see it in the picture?

What would normally be the Seconds hand, is actually the date hand. It labels 1-31 around the bezel of the face. It also accounts for leap years.

I've read where you cant adjust the band on this model seiko,I have a seven inch wrist and would have to take out some links have they fixed it yet ?

The band can be adjusted by adding and removing links. It does not allow the fine-tuning available on some watch bands by moving where the pins attach to the latch. I had the option of making my band slightly too tight or slightly too loose. I opted for too loose.

What does the top gauge do? I can see the days the week, but I don't have a clue of what the otjer half of tye gauge is showing.

The top dial has several functions. In normal mode, the right side of the dial indicates day of the week. The bottom section of the dial is used for setting the alarm, the day, and date. In stopwatch mode, the left section of the dial indicates the power reserve level. A detailed, easy to follow manual is included.

How much trouble is it to set daylight savings time?

The watch consists of two movements. There are the large hands and the small dial at the bottom. They are independent and date and alarm is based on the small dial. For daylight savings time you must set both. Pulling out the knob to set the time stops the seconds so you must hack the time if you want accuracy.
