Great option
I'm very happy with this purchase. My dog learned to use it in a couple of days. The double flap system works well. The build is very solid. I like the double paned glass versus a lot of the other single paned examples I've seen and used before.Be prepared to add your own foam (or other type) weather stripping in addition to what comes with the item. The double sided tape on the plastic sweep that is supposed to insulate the vertical part of the overlapping sliding door panes doesn't stick well to the door or the rubber itself. It's a minor issue and can be fixed. But it will be needed in very hot or cold weather.I'm very handy with DIY so installation wasn't difficult. It may be more difficult for others. The item was packed up well. Assembly instructions were easy to understand. My Pella sliding door sits on a narrow rail in the bottom track. Because of that, this item wouldn't sit all the way down into the track. I was able to solve for this by cutting slots in the bottom of the item with a dremel tool to allow it to straddle that rail and sit all the way down into the track.Overall for the price it's a great item. I highly recommend versus the cheaper options available.

Excellent product! Affortable practical solution
Execellent solution. We are very happy with this product. It keeps our pup independent .. freely coming in and going out when we are home and the the door can be closed easily when we dont want him to go out. It still leaves enough space for humans to go out in the yard comfortably. Flap closure can be better but it hasnt really affected its functionality. Our pup loves it and uses it well.

Game Changer
Our senior dog has bladder cancer needing to go out quite a bit and this saves us from having to let her out, especially at night we don't have to get up she just comes and goes. Of course initially there is some slight training involved w/treats to learn the door. The overall door is quality made and worth the price for the double pane glass needed for the winter months. There will most likely be some alterations needed since every slider door frame is different. I had to cut off part of the bottom plate w/a reciprocal saw then install a piece of wood beveled out in the middle to accommodate my door track groove. I'm sure if you don't want to go to this extent you could get some thick foam insulation strips that had adhesive on one side. I installed 2 vertical runs of foam insulating v-seal in between where the slider and panel, then added a 2" rubber strip between slider glass and slider frame gap to seal from door being partially open. Somewhat of a design flaw that others have noticed is the door flap does not always seat itself properly leaving a large gap on the bottom allowing air to just flow in. There are 2 magnets on the bottom that are supposed to freely slide up and down to catch the door as it swings open and close however if the gap is too big the bottom magnets do not attach to door panel. Also, the door will swing open freely during heavy winds bc it.is not properly attached to the bottom defeating the purpose of a winterized door. Either they need to design this flap with stronger magnets or less of a gap. I had to raise the magnets about 1/2" higher then added duct tape to hold in place while still allowing for the magnets to have some slight movement. The locking bar that comes with it is also sturdy. Despite needing to figure out some issues, I've made the deal tightly sealed and operable w/the need to occasionally manually clasp the doggy door itself if the flap is misaligned, other than that it saves us from constantly having to get up to let the dogs out. Aesthetically, it looks like it is part of my slider which is also nice, doesn't look cheap.

Non-existant customer service
I purchased this door in late October of '22, and installed it early November. After installation, I noticed that the outer flap wasn't sealing properly. I can push back into place so the magnet holds it in the closed position, but the next time it's used, the flap remains open. It seems to have a permanent warp in the material (see photo). I ordered the "extreme weather" version of this door, as we live in a cold climate area, often with windy conditions. Hence, with the outer flap not sealing properly, a strong wind easily blows open the inner flap, allowing a gust of cold winter air into the room.I went to the PetSafe website and spoke with Jena via their online chat on November 11. I explained the situation to her, and she suggested that I contact their customer service via email ([email protected]), explaining the issue. She also said to include in the email a copy of the invoice from Amazon, along with photos showing the issue with the door. As our online chat was on a Friday, she said it would be 3-4 days before getting a response.I sent the email the same day (11-11-22) with the requested information (proof of purchase, photos, and explanation of the problem).Receiving no response as of December 1st, I once again emailed customer service, asking if the issue was being addressed.By December 27, there is still no response, so I emailed them yet again! It's now January 18, and STILL no response.I really shouldn't need to spend $70.00 on a replacement part for a brand new item that cost me $300.00+, but I have no other option at this point. This is unfortunate, as it is overall a quality product, well designed and sturdy construction. If you have no issues with this product, it's a very nice option for a dog door. But Lord help you if you ever need to contact PetSafe customer service.

Doggy door
I was skeptical about having a doggy door but i have to say, this was the best product we've gotten in a while. We no longer need to let dogs out during the day and and they can let themselves in and cool off on hot days

Decent door. short lifespan on door flap
Magnet on bottom doesn’t connect well leaving a small space for air to get in. One side of the Flap broke 6 months after installing. I had my previous door insert for 7 years before the door flap started breaking. I was expecting it to last longer.Otherwise easy to install, and the door panel itself is sturdy.
