Crain 217 Hook Handle Razor Carpet Knife

Most of the new box cutters fold up and don't work that well. This one is solid, and is easy to grip. The only problem is the blade doesn't retract so you'll have to find a container or a scabbard to put it in when you're not using it.

Had to remove an old carpet alone so wanted to cut it in manageable pieces. This worked perfectly! Cut through the carpet and pad with one stroke the majority of the time. Made removal an easy job. Did purchase replacement blades and used some as the adhesive in the carpet dulls the blade. But blades are double sided so can flip them before having to change them out.

This carpet cutting device allowed the home owner to remove the wall to wall carpeting and padding in his own home. The razor blades must be purchased separately and can be stored inside the device itself. We bought a small set of eight blades to start, I believe. The device is so ergometric and friendly to hands and fingers! It only took one blade to cut through a 30’ x 30’ room with thick wall to wall carpeting and padding. We are not contractors or installers either, just two senior citizens trying to save money. Ordered device (and separately purchased blades) online. Came on time in the mail undamaged. Great little purchase. Really got the job done. Well, one more hallway and last bedroom to go….

I do flooring, and I definitely know a great knife when I have one in my hand!This feels nice in my hand, it holds many extra blades inside, changing or flipping around a blade is quick and easy.. the magnet also makes it nice and easy holding a blade in place while opening it up!Fantastic!!!

The razorblade came with no razors sad day at work. So I got this razorblade and went to the job and opened it up to put in the new blade to find that it had a place to put the blades, but it was empty. It was a shock to find that I could have just gone to the store to buy a razor and blade, and then the blades right there now I have this shell of a blade at the job, and it is a better paper weight than a tool if you can't even give one blade in the sale.
