There is life after cancer
This is now an old book. Don't expect bang up-to-date information or statistics, but there is a huge amount of positive information and practical advice, applicable to anyone's better health, but particularly if you are battling a cancer and want to maximise your chances of a longer life. I was given a copy in2001 (when I had stage 4 breast cancer, and was just starting chemotherapy prior to surgery and radiotherapy). It certainly helped me through all the year long treatment. I didn't change the treatment - just added in changes to diet and lifestyle, and took massively extra and quite expensive supplements. Was it worth it? 100%! Plus it gave me the confidence to take on an allotment since I was certain I would be around to reap the benefits. The author has her own pet themes, (as do all passionate believers in alternative therapies,) and many doctors are sceptical but will work with you, since they too are aware of the health benefits of a positive attitude. I recommend this book to anyone who is concerned about getting cancer, or who is undergoing treatment, and I hunt for and purchase a copy (usually second-hand) for any of my friends who get cancer. They don't have to follow it, just the extra information is likely to make them feel better, and less scared. Best wishes to all of you

informative and not frightening, just reassurring.
I bought this book after being diagnosed early this Year. I waited till four months after my operation and treatment had begun, at first I when reading I found lots of the foods I enjoy were listed as possible contributors and wondered if I should change my diet. after careful consideration I decided I could not cut these totally out of my diet totally but would reduce their intake and look for more healthier options. it was also helpful to understand terms used and not have to contact the breast care nurse for answers to some questions. Since finishing I have a friend who has recently been diagnosed herself and has asked to borrow this book as she wants to try some of the recipes to see if she can change her diet. lots of good advice on relaxation/stress relievers and contacts (mostly American sites). this would probably benefit from updating to include the major organisations for cancer support in other countries.

a good aid to recovery in the post op stages
I bought this for a friend who was about to have an operation for breast cancer. I was unsure whether it would help or give her more to worry about in the days preceding the op. We both found it helpful me to plan what food to prepare for her in the post op recovery and her to understand more about her cancer and how to help her own recovery. It is the kind of book that you can dip into and read a short amount at a time.

very useful guide. Highly recommend
I used his book through my journey and would definitely recommend as an informative, positive guide. Ten yeas on, If anyone is diagnosed I always buy this book for them. There are many heavy and emotionally draining books available but this is not one of them. It's definitely the best breast cancer guide that I found.

Excellent and so thought provoking
Every young woman should read this book in preparation of looking after themselves, and every mother should have one to help their kids understand what can happen if you dont look after yourself in your early years. Its a great foodie bible if you just want to be healthy, and its an awesome read if you want to help yourself to a healthy life post cancer. Very inspirational, easy to read and understand. I read it every day to remind myself of what benefits I'm getting from understanding more about how to help myself
