I am on a calorie restricted diet with no carbohydrates for weight loss. In my question for high protein content food products with minimal chemical additives and processed food and low calorie count, muscle milk seemed to be one option. After talking to some former students of mine who are in the NFL or NBA, they strongly recommended the pro-series of Muscle MIlk Products as well a Pure Protein nutritional bars. No aspartame was one of my requirements and so many nutritional replacement supplements are loaded full of artificial sweeteners as well as artificial flavorings and colorings that I am trying to avoid. I have managed to stay on this 800 calorie diet and feel satisfied in large measure due to the Muscle Milk Pro-Series drinks. The Knock-out chocolate is my favorite and it is pretty good cold, no strong iron after taste or bitterness from Stevia or Aspartame additives. Muscle Milk is not just for athletes. I will emphasize that it is good as a single meal replacement or a snack. It is not intended to replace every meal - that is also noted on the manufacturer's web site and on the product package. This product has helped me work steadily toward my weight loss goals when nothing else seemed to work. I highly recommend this product for weight management under doctor's supervision.

As far as raw protein gram count for the price, it's hard to beat muscle milk. I'm just not really a fan of how it tastes, though. Every time I have a bottle I'm overwhelmed by the taste of coconut to the point that the chocolate feels like an afterthought. If you like coconut or coconut milk substitutes then you will probably love Muscle Milk, but I bought it as a substitute for Monster Muscle shakes which Amazon no longer sells, and after going through a case I don't think Muscle Milk is for me. It's "dairy free" but still uses whey protein, and with that in mind I'd rather just go with Core Power because those are unapologetically made with milk and they taste great, even if they're more expensive.

One of the best protein shakes I have ever purchased! Very tasty and 40 mg of protein!! Comes in a variety of flavors!
