Better to have and not need it!
Highly recommended if you are going to be around predatory animals!! We bought the bear Spray for a multi-national park bucket list trip. I cannot really hike at this time as a cancer survivor with recent major surgery - but we thought better safe than sorry. We went stargazing at Badlands National Park and I was SO glad we had it there!! The safety tab glows in the dark for easy removal to deployment. I actually took off the safety tab to be at the ready - lol -there were coyotes howling not too far away. The safety tab was super easy to put back into place!Better to have and not need it…One of our bus tour guides from Yellowstone National Park recommended that one always carry bear spray a Yellowstone. We did see two Grizzlies there!

Crowed control
With the occasional protests going on in the streets in the cities, a cleaver person came up with the Idea of using bear spray as a nonlethal way of getting protestors away from my vehicle so I can get the family to a safe location. This should do the trick, easy to store in vehicle, long range, hope I don't have to use it. With the justice system not appreciating the safety of innocent bystanders, there have been jail time give to drivers for driving over protestors throwing destructive items at cars causing damage and possible personal injury. I will protect my family.

Good for you and the bear
This is not an item you can really review without having had a close encounter with a bear. I have not discharged my bear spray and hope that I don’t have to. I bought this item based on reviews of people who have had to use it.

Defective Holster
The media could not be loaded. I will update this review pending the reply from the seller.I have carried this brand of Bear Spray for miles and miles. Thankfully I’ve never had to use it so I cannot attest to that. What I can tell you is that after so many miles, I’ve never had an issue with this getting in the way while hiking nor does it feel cumbersome or heavy. What I can say is that as soon as I pulled the holster out of the package, I saw a large cut right through the product label. I didn’t use any sharp instruments to open the packaging. In fact I just slipped the item out of the hole at the package bottom.I have reached out to the seller for a replacement holster. This holster will not hold up on a hike and I will lose this bear spray canister on the trail. Hopefully it’ll still be there if I ever have to reach for it!Update 4/26/22Seller immediately contacted me after I reached out to them. They gave me a full refund that I could use to purchase a replacement. 👍🏼

The only brand we buy!
We live in grizzly country and work and recreate on a daily basis outside. This is our go to brand for bear spray. We really like the larger size canisters and also have found the cans seem to last better than other brands, which we have literally had explode on us just from dropping them or if we accidentally rubbed one on something like a tree a little too hard as we were bushwhacking. This is not something anyone wants to happen, it ruins your clothes and it takes about a week for that nasty burning on your skin to go away, unpleasant to say the least. Never had an accidental release with one of these canisters by Counter Assault, even after falls and bushwhacking. This is an item you want to be able to rely on in the wilderness and not something you have to worry about if it is going to malfunction or break or not work properly when needed.

Good product
I carried this bear spray while hiking in South Dakota and then at Glacier in Montana. No, I did not have to spray a bear (thankfully) but I felt confident in this product while hiking. I used zip-ties to hang the holster from my shoulder strap on my 3-day ruck and it worked great. The safety is quality and glows in the dark. This brand is also what the National Park service was carrying. They spray more bears than anyone else I know so I figured I couldn’t go wrong here. Yes, I do recommend this product 👍🏻.

Worked Perfect on Bear
We bought two of these for our trip. Within about an hour of entering the gate we were confronted with a black and white bear about 6', maybe 400+ pounds. It was chewing on what looked like bamboo, but once it got within about 10' of the bars we pulled our cans and sprayed. The bear fled back towards the feeding station, but then security took our cans and we were escorted out of the zoo.
