I got this primarily for my snake’s enclosure, but I also use it to check the temp in my two Betta fish tanks, and my two tarantula enclosures. I’ve also used it to check the temp of my pork ribs! It’s accurate and works like a charm! This came as a recommendation from a YouTube channel, Elle’s Reptiles. I recommend it as well.

Priced nice and works as needed. It helps me make sure the gradient heat is where it needs to be for my boy. Added a thermostat for the basking area, and the temps between the two are spot on. Would purchase it again if needed.

Nice little instrument. Seems to work well. I like the fact that the emissivity can be adjusted to compensate the temperature reading for a variety of materials--however, the included table will show that there isn't too great of a variation for most substrates. Generally, a value of 0.95 is close enough for most measurements. It would be nice if the accuracy were a little better than +/- 2 deg C, but this is a basic limitation of the detector technology used, especially considering the temperature range this device covers. Keep in mind that for close objects, the laser pointer is offset from the center of the measurement area if you're expecting to measure at a specific point. The instructions clearly indicate that the measurement is over a circle that increases in diameter the further you are from the object. But the laser can also be used as a cat exercise device when not measuring its temperature. (See US Patent US 5443036)

Very inaccurate. I tried it on 4 known temperatures and it was off by as much as 15 degrees. !2/15/2017 I have updated my rating for two reasons. One, the vendor contacted me to see what the problem was with their product and allowed me to try another unit. How is that for fantastic customer service!! and two, the new IR Thermometer worked flawlessly!! I must have received a defective unit the first time. I highly recommend this product and especially this vendor!!

I've been using this for automotive purposes since I purchased it and it has done the job perfectly. The battery life has been good and the results are accurate compared to other methods of measurement. There is no visible laser, but most of the digital thermometers I've used haven't had one. Overall a great purchase for the money.

I love this Infrared thermometer. It is a very handy tool especially for the do-it-yourselfers toolbox. It can help you diagnose heat related issues with any item that you need to know what the temperature is radiating from. It gives a temperature accuracy as good as any other Infrared thermometer on the market and you can't beat the price especially when it comes to budgeting. I was able to diagnose heat related issues with my computer system to an accurate nth degree. I took several readings and averaged the readings out til I found a mid point then I conducted some other system related test and the results fairly matched what the thermometer said to a certain degree of accuracy. Overall, this is a very good product.

This arrived safe! I opened box up and no case. No battery at first. Didn't know how to open for battery. The cover is very hard to open. Battery inside new the connector was stuck up inside and had to use a tool to get it out. I got this one as it came with everything, so I didn't need to buy a case. Well either I return it and buy a diff one or just buy a case. It's made of cheap plastic but it does seem to work just don't know how accurate the temps are, as the reading is lower then the one my husband uses at work. I don't have a case so could get dirty or damaged, because plastic is thin and if dropped would crack I'm sure. It does seem to work though. Not sure if keeping it at this point.

Such a piece of crap. I have a baby Northern BTS and am trying to dial in her enclosure - you can point this at the same spot and get multiple different readings. I don't mean by 1 or 2 degrees, I mean by 10-15 degrees. That is fecking HUGE in herpticulture - I mean, that is absolutely certain death in *many* of the more delicate species. If you are stuck with this for some reason, I find that after maybe 4-5 pulls the temp read seems to level out - no clue how accurate it is at that point, I know I am utterly unwilling to trust it. Even tho it may work after a few pulls and is definitely one of the lower cost temp guns, I would rate this All the Nopes. I am stuck keeping my little nummer in a temp baby bin she is rapidly outgrowing, because I am waiting for a better temp gun to get her enclosure dialed in.
