Q: I guess a better way to ask this is "Is the location of the gas block mounted front sight the same as M4?

Yep! M16, A1, A2, M4, AR15, A15,are all similar and are generally in the same location. Some gas blocks have a bayonet tab and sling ring while others do not. Call a local gunsmith about your specific situation. The sight shown in the photo here is the one I purchased and it fit perfect on my picatinny top gas block.

This should work on most AR configurations. However, when I switched to the Adams Arms Piston setup, their gas block rides higher than stock ARs. So, as long as you are not running a piston gas block which is larger and taller than standard, this should work.

Q: Does this front site tower fit the lower or upper gas block?

definitely a slightly lower gas block.if your gas block rail is as high as the receiver rail ,it would shoot too low. this is a taller tower.
