Worked just fine!
I was pretty nervous to purchase this after reading all the reviews, but these worked JUST FINE! We purchased 2 of these, stained them, installed them and they worked as advertised. Everything was in the pack, the instructions were clear, nothing broke... it just worked. Beats the hell out of drilling into our banister.

Good Quality, easy to install.
Hi All, I have 2 gates from Cardinal and one of them had to be to attached to the stair railing. I was thinking to cut and put some wood pieces to protect the railing but when I saw the Round Clamp, I decided to buy instead of making a one by myself and I am glad that I did. I installed it with ease and I am happy so far. I recommend it to anyone who wants to protect their railing.

Screws too long
I had to go the Home Depot to get the right length screws.

Great product
This is a great product! I did need to buy fully threaded bolts and replace the bolts that came with it because it wouldn't get tight enough but they were only 60 cents each at Home Depot. Much better than returning and trying to figure out something else

Terrible Design
This clamp supposedly was designed for the Auto Lock Gate by Cardinal Gates. It was designed to clamp around the stair bannister so that you can attach the gate lock to it. The gate lock uses four screws which are about 4 inches apart. This is mounted horizontally and is approximately 1.5 inches wide. This means that you can only attach two of the four screws. To make matters worse, The pole I'm trying to attach it to is approximately 2 inches in diameter. The Lag screws only have thread on about 3/4 inches of the total screw meaning that you cant tighten it down. So, I had to buy new lag screws that had threads all the way. Very frustrating. Bad design. Doesn't work for the product it was designed to be used with. It is something you can make yourself. I decided to buy this kit even though it was more expensive than making it myself to take the guesswork out of it, and I still have to go buy hardware at the hardware store. Freaking insane.

Works great on staircase with a Paws gate
Used this gate with a Paws Gate. Overall I am VERY happy with this product. It worked well and allowed me to solve a problem I had with setting up a barrier to keep my toddler from going up the stairs. Saved me time from having to build a clamp at a time that I did not have free time. I used quarter-inch galvanized machine bolts, 3.5 inch long, purchased from Ace Hardware for $1.29 each. I also stained the clamp to match my newell post. Used Minwax stain for that, it dried overnight. See picture for my installation.

The product came with only 1 bolt. It needs 2 bolts to install.

Wood clamps
Perfect for retrofitting a baby gate at the top of our stairs. Didn’t want to damage the newel post and this saves it!
