I bought this because I adding a moving bed filter to my 8k gallon koi pond and needed a way to greatly improve the biological filtration...so I can add more fish and feed them move. I used a 65 gallon garbage can from HD and bought an air bladder from Amazon. It worked perfectly, the media turned brownish after about 6 weeks, which meant the bacteria was colonized nicely. I'm very happy with this product.

It’s plastic biomedia, I don’t know how anyone could give it a bad review, it has a simple job that it performs well, that the product itself can’t mess up, human error could for sure; like I messed up. I wanted a moving bed for aquaponics and I ordered k1 which wasn’t moving around all that well, I bought k3 which I thought was specie for what I wanted to do but it was bigger and didn’t move around nearly as much as k1. I now have “micro” k1 biomedia on order and I truly believe it’s what I need for a moving bed biofilter. I truly hope I didn’t buy the wrong product again.

This is the perfect media of you want to convert a pool sand filter into a pond filter. Smaller media comes out the backwash when cleaning. This is large enough so that won't happen.
