Can you hear a difference between high and low? yes.
I purchased both the larger box cajon C68-Z, and the smaller pad in the darker zebra wood. They were exactly what I was looking for.I tend to pull out the smaller pad (the darker of the two offered) more often for a quick rhythm, but the larger box/lap cajon (C68-Z) - no surprise - has a fuller sound. If I had to choose one, it would be the larger. Both have a snare and alternate playing sides. One side engages the snare while the other does not. Both can be played on a table or desk top and both have a tendency to slide off of a lap when playing becomes more active. I sometimes add a no-slip fabric between my lap and the smaller pad. The larger, box/lap comes with a guitar-type strap. You can either sit and secure around your waste to keep the cajon in your lap (this works really well), or you can secure from your neck and stand to play.I have practiced and taught rhythms using my lap or a table/desk top. - both the pad and larger box cajon are superior for practice and teaching rhythm. I would also recommend using both for sound therapy and meditation - if you’re into that sort of thing.Do these have the ultimate high and the ultimate low tones? - noCan you hear a difference between the high and lows?- yes.I have enjoyed using the larger box cajon at a drumming circle. It won’t replace my djembe but it is easier to transport and doesn’t require tuning or head replacements.

I like the sound, not the sliding.
I am somewhat new to the Cajon world. I do also have a full size Cajon. For what this is, I like the sound and ease of carrying. However, as others have noted, it seems to want to keep sliding off my lap when sitting in a chair. However as I am writing this, I broke my foot and leg. I have to lay down all the time and keep them elevated. Now I am really happy that I purchased this. I can keep it between my stomach and legs and will at least give me something to practice on while I recover.

Very clean precise woodwork and glueing inside, good snare sound.
I wanted a portable cajon and this works out quite well. It has a nice snare sound, and the plastic sound hole protector/projector helps with the volumne. Of course there will be a superior sound in a full sized upright cajon that one can sit on, but I wanted a smaller cajon. This comes with its own case and two knobs one, on each side for a carrying strap (to stabilize the instrument on your lap) for hanging off your shoulder. I purchased a square of the rubbery cushion grip mesh material and cut it to size, and it really helps keep my cajon on my lap.

Case straps attached incorrectly.
Case straps attached incorrectly. Tuning for snare effect seems disengaged and doesn't actually tune.

Bought for my grandson’s birthday . Nice carrying case, strap and size for 11 year old. He loves it and can take it anywhere. And best of all it’s not a screen!!!

Beautifully sounding little cajón drum!!!
A nice sounding portable cajón drum, it comes with two Allen wrenches, I think they are for tuning up, the carrying bag has the Gecko logotype nicely embroidered, I’m happy with my purchase.
