Disney/Pixar Luca: The Deluxe Junior Novelization (Disney/Pixar Luca)

I loved Luca. This deluxe junior novels are much better than the first that came out. They are hardback and the level of reading has a little more complex than some that felt that was a synopsis of the movie.Luca is a merboy who wants a bike, he joins a friend and they go to land to pass all these trials to win their dream but find other dreams.

Great film/novelization about the importance of living your truth. Disney really hit the nail on the head with this poignant coming of age story. Luca is charming, and challenges social conventions of otherness. Teaching us to embrace our differences, Luca is full of awesome representation, and pushes the boundaries of traditional Disney troupes. It touches on subjects of Queerness, disability, unconventional families, and more. One of their best in a long time, definitely check this one out!

My boys are 3 and 5 and have been entering the world of read alouds with chapter books. Being a Disney and Luca fan, buying this book was perfect as my kids already enjoyed the movie so much. My littles will listen to a whole chapter and actually look forward to reading(listening) more of it every day. Also, it’s a chapter book, it’s not meant to have pictures but it included some in the middle of the book. Plus there’s a poster at the end of it. Overall win!

I found the theme of this movie/book beautiful! This coming to age story was wonderfully told. The notion that acceptance is the most important thing of all, regardless of your background was amazing to watch. Well done Pixar!

The book, is awesome. It's not one to one completely with the movie as far as lines go, but it's pretty close. I adore the poster in there, and in the middle of the book are colorized pages that show bits from the movie. HOWEVER, I noticed there were rows of "portraits" across the book in a very fainted overlay, and they're a bit disturbing to say the least. One in particular which is in the middle of the cover looks like a sea monster in itself with jaws open with wide eyes. On the left is a photo of a characterized man in sunglasses. Top left looks like an old man with a big white beard. I couldn't find anything related so I don't know what's going on with the print of the book - but once my kid noticed (particularly the wide eyed sharp tooth monster), she won't touch the book anymore. It's so faint, but once you see it, you can't unsee it. Otherwise? COOL BOOK!!!! What's going on with the printing though?It did come a little damaged on the top corner which I photographed, but it's not an issue for me.

Highly offended by the lack of diversity. This is another story of white privileged male protagonists doing good things. I am ashamed that disney would release such a close minded film. I feel like it is a deliberate slap in the face to release this movie especially in the middle of pride month. Do better disney!

Bought this right after we watched the movie for my 7 years old. She reads at 3rd grade level and she is almost done after a few days. It's funny and clearly details out the story from the movie. I hear her giggling her once in a while reading it!! The book has no pictures if anyone wonders as it is a novelization of the movie but it does have some colored pictures in the middle. 18 chapters, 137 pages.

My daughter loved the movie and watches it over and over. I ordered her this book so she could appreciate the story to and I’m so glad I did. She’s read the book twice and brought it with her everywhere and it made her love the Luca story even more. Great job on the book adaptation Disney!

The cover is cute but the pages are very old school dull.
