5 Stars!!!
I've used L'Oreal's charcoal clay mask for a couple of years now. Since I don't have problems with my skin, it has served the purpose of complementing my regular skin care routine -or so I thought. The product is hard to find where I live, so I stopped using it for about 6 months. During that period of time, I noticed puffiness in my lower eyelids that were not present with regular use of the L'Oreal mask. I had begun using something else that doesn't work as well. Needless to say, I am pleased with the results and if I order a skin care product "online" that means it works really well. I've read mixed reviews on the scent which I find to be more akin to a soft spa-like scent, minty and refreshing. The only minus for me is the mess involved with rinsing the mask which is the reason I usually apply it before showering. I give it five stars!

Great Exfoliant. Reduces Appearance of Pores and Fine Lines
The Product:L’Oréal Paris Exfoliate and Refine Pores Pure Clay MaskInitial Product Observations:The mask was held in a substantial glass jar covered with the typical (what I call) L’Oréal green plastic lid. After breaking the safety seal and opening the jar, I noticed a moderately strong but pleasant, almost rose like scent emanating from a salmon colored cream within.Product Test:After cleaning and drying my face, I applied the mask to one side only. It had a slight abrasive texture going on and had a mild but appreciable tingle throughout the 10-15 minutes of suggested wear time. The mask was easily rinsed off but did leave a bit of a mess in the sink. After patting my face dry with a towel, I noticed some redness and blotchiness that I believe was just a result of the abrasive/exfoliating quality of the mask. Both resolved quickly as did the tingling sensation, but a pleasant tautness remained. When viewing my skin at 10x magnification, I was able to see an improvement in the smoothness of my skin, there was also a discernible difference in the size of my pores, and a slight difference in my fine lines.Pros:Pleasant scentPost-wear skin tautnessEasy rinse-offReduction in pore size appearanceSight reduction in fine linesCons:Temporary slight tingleTemporary redness and blotchinessRinse off is a bit messyThe moderately strong (but pleasant) scent may not agree with fragrance-sensitive consumers. Conclusion:I continue to enjoy using L’Oréal Paris Exfoliate and Refine Pores Pure Clay Mask and will absolutely be purchasing it when I run out. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good mask.Side Note:I also tried L’Oréal Paris “Detox & Brighten” and “Purify & Mattify” Pure Clay Masks and experienced similar results.I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity by L’Oréal to try this product out for free and the ability to pass on my personal opinion as well as objective information that may be beneficial to other potential consumers.

Great quality, did not upset sensitive skin, but has fragrance added
I like this mask. It DOES unclog pores way more than simply using a non clay face mask. It is very black because the charcoal is actually high up on the ingredients list. It's very smonth, not gritty, washes clean. I personally have extremely sensitive skin, but this doesn't upset my skin, i think this is because it's not filled with unnecessary ingredients. It has the clay & charcoal higher on ingredient list than expected. The one con and star removed is the fragrance that is included in this product. I am so thankful it didn't upset my skin, and has not for the multiple times Iv used it since, but the fragrance is strong but the main problem with fragrances in skin care products is the potential to irritate sensitive skin, or even 'normal' skin. For me personally, the fragrance doesn't prevent me from using it.What I do is this- when I haven't used any mask in a long time, I apply on all of my face. After the initial use, I only use it for maintenance about once a week. The main areas are the nose and the creases where many blackheads hide, and T zone.Steaming the face, or just after showering, is the best thing to do before applying this. Steam alone will purge pores, I have witnessed this. So combining the loosening debris benefit from steam with this mask is a guarantee to rid clogged pores. I also am careful not to use it more than once a week, it is powerful. Bottom line, this applies to everything skincare, the ingredients speak for itself. Even if you don't know the ingredients, a simple google search can help provide insight. Always check out ingredients list for EVERYTHING!Last night me and my sister were talking about skin problems, she mentioned having many blackheads on her nose (I know this is a bit gross but it's just fact) and she had tried those strips and said they don't do a thing. I looked in the mirror and I could see a MAJOR difference between her nose and mine. I told her to use this.I bought this regular price & I gladly recommend to anyone who : needs a fairly inexpensive blackhead busting face mask, anyone interested in the benefits of using clay and charcoal based masks and anyone in need of a product that actually works to decongest congested skin. I recommend to be cautious and patch test, especially if you have sensitive skin like me. I like the fact that 'drug store' products are FINALLY getting with the program and including clay & charcoal!!
