Great camera, sturdy construction. Easy connect to WiFi and stays connected. But no continuous recording.
This camera is great. It has a sturdy construction and connects fast to WiFi. The camera also stays connected. I bought others (that I had to return) for about the same price but they wouldn't connect or lost connectivity and you have to reset them. This camera has no problems with the WiFi at all, I use it with my standard modem from ATT 2.4Ghz (802.11).Easy set up and fast installation if you are handy. I wish it had a longer power cable but the one supplied is decent enough. The picture quality is good but small frame (about the same as others). Movement alert works fine, they sent an alert to the phone app and save a set of 5 pictures for 24hrs, which you have to save to your PC or phone. Its pretty easy to view from my android phone and my PC. I haven't figure out how to record from PC yet but it can be done with my phone. Instructions are in English and easy to follow.Cons: As of July 2017, the cloud services are not available, which means that I have no automatic recording unless I do it myself from my phone while watching. The camera does not have an SD Card slot so it can't do local storage unless you have a DVR system. Cloud storage is advertise as "coming soon" as of today.**That been said, if you want continuous recording you need to buy their set that includes a DVR system.**I am not taking a star off because I knew what I was buying and the price seems fair for the camera; there are plastic ones way more expensive that won't connect.

Excellent starter camera, easy setup, great price, and product arrived on time, excellent service
I started with an older outdoor wifi wireless camera from z modo and was impressed by the ease of setup, and the night vision, and most of all, the ability to watch the home security camera from anywhere on my iPhone 5s. Soon thereafter, I began to purchase another camera to expand my view to both the front yard and the backyard. I stuck with Zmodo because I was able to get my cameras work together with the same Iphone app and web browser in Safari. The entry level cost is so low, compared to buying an entire security system for the entire house, yet, you are able to build up the system piecemeal, easily adding another camera, and the latest software free on App Store from Apple makes it even easier to set up, literally hooking the camera up in less than two minutes, Of course, the cameras I purchased from Vipercameras were the best price, and I ended up buying 4 cameras to expand my system, easily and even another z modo camera for inside the house, to keep an eye on my elderly mother, in case of a fall, and watch the house when away. The camera were a nice package, came triple layered boxes and arrived on time, and safely. The newer Zzmodo 720p Outdoor Home wireless cameras are half the size with even more features. Excellent service when I thought one camera wasn't working right, they offered to immediately send me out another camera., turned out to be reflections of light from setting cam on my brick wall fogging the the night vision, while testing out the locations for optimum signal and view. It wasn't the camera, it was my temporary locations fault. I used an Apple Express, 2nd generation router, along with an Apple Extreme router to extend the range of the cameras, as I have a very long house and the router is near one side of my home office. The work seamlessly with Apple MacBook Pro, Iphone 5 and 7 and my Apple routers.

A work in progress
This is a nice camera for the price. I ordered this product for my father as a Christmas gift. It was really easy to setup. The directions were easy to follow and it worked well the very first time. We were excited to test the camera and so we placed it around the house and it worked really well inside. The picture quality is quite good in both day and night modes. We also tried to use the camera out the window of the house as we didn't have power to an area to hook it up outside. During the day this worked really well, but at night the infrared light reflected back off of the window and it wasn't able to see anything in night mode.My father doesn't have a smartphone capable of running the Zmodo app and so he has to primarily use the web interface to monitor the camera. The web interface still has some work to be done. One of the reasons I knocked this from 5 to 4 stars is that while using the web interface there is no way to switch to HD mode. I am able to switch between the modes on my phone and the difference in quality is quite noticeable. I contacted Zmodo customer support to see if there was a way to make this switch, and I got the answer "maybe no".The tech support, and I have only used the online chat, is pretty quick to respond, but it is obvious that you are not talking to a native speaker. Their responses to individual questions take forever. Furthermore, they don't seem very knowledgeable about their products. One feature I was keen to try was their cloud service. There is no way to find a price for what the service will cost, and in the app the only option is to try a 60 day trial of the service. It is nice that they offer this service for free for 60 days, but after using the service it is quite clear why they aren't charging at this point. The upload doesn't appear to be instantaneous. If you want to watch something from earlier in the day, it might not be there for several hours, or it might not be there at all. This is my other big complaint about the camera. It doesn't seem to keep a good connection. Half the time I try to watch a video of when something happened earlier in the day, I can see the time stamp on the camera doesn't move for a minute or more. Sometimes, the video simply isn't there. I know that it isn't a problem with the connection to the wifi as it is about ten feet away, and the internet connection is easily sufficient to handle the upload of video to a cloud. Furthermore, when attempting to connect to the camera, both through the web interface and the app, it often takes 10 seconds or more for the video to load. This is annoying because I can hear a vehicle come up the driveway, but by the time the camera loads on the screen the vehicle is already past the location the camera is watching.Beyond this, the motion detection seems really spotty. Sometimes it will alert me when I drive down the driveway in my car, sometimes it will act like nothing happened. If I take the dog out, half the time it alerts me that I am walking down the driveway and the other half it doesn't. I really hope that this is something that they will improve in future updates to the camera. That being said, it does appear that they are making an effort to improve the services that they offer. When I contacted them about the cost of the cloud beyond the 60 day trial period, they informed me that the cloud was still in beta and they had no pricing scheme at this time. I think that is fair. It does appear as if parts of this product are still in the beta stage, and I am glad that they are using this time to improve their product. If after 60 days they try to charge for the cloud service, I absolutely will not use it. However, if they use the time to improve the service and then roll out a pricing structure along with an improved interface and more reliable backup, I will be happy to see what they offer.

This camera is really well done and for the price, it's hard to beat. There are a couple of drawbacks which made me swing back and forth between four and five stars but ultimately decided on five due to the great price. Since this camera is indoor/outdoor I would have liked to see the micro-USB power plug sealed. If you mount this camera outdoors you MUST at least seal up that connection with electrical tape. (See my image) The camera's mount is quite small, which means you must be careful about the position you mount the camera in, as the antenna that sticks out the back may interfere with the wall. This issue could be solved by a slightly longer mount or spacers that position the mount further out from the wall. Setup was a little bit of a pain but not too bad, I could not get the camera to connect to my network using the app. on my Android 5 phone but luckily was able to do it using an iPad. Once the camera was setup, everything worked with the app. across all my devices. I do wish I could record video/images directly to my computer/device storage but you're stuck using the Zmodo appliction/web based interface which isn't too terrible though. Some of the things I really liked include the one-touch mount, picture quality, night vision range, small form factor, IP65 weatherproofing and the ability to view/manage the camera from just about any device, anywhere. Once you've got the mount screwed into the wall, there's only one thumb screw to adjust the positioning of the camera which makes adjustments nice and easy. Picture quality out of this small, low-cost camera is very good-- 720p as rated and no reason to doubt it. I am equally impressed by the night-vision distance, it claims 65ft which from my opinion is pretty close to what I got with mine. Other reviews have images to show night time distances. The small size of the camera makes it ideal for mounting almost anywhere and is very inconspicuous, you don't notice mine unless you're looking for it. Lastly, all things considered, for about $35 you are getting a very good security camera that's likely to work great for you.

Absolute crap. It's somewhat easy to install
Absolute crap. It's somewhat easy to install, not as easy as they make it sound. I can get past that though. The picture quality is about $35 worth even. The problems are:1. Very laggy. By about 10 seconds. And thats about 12 feet from the wifi router.2. Will not stay connected. And whats worse, when it stops streaming, it leaves the image of the last thing it sees on the screen rather than saying it has disconnected.3. To get it to connect you have to log on everytime. Maybe I'm spoiled from the last system I had, the logitech alert. (which had everything I needed but was discontinued by logitech who I'll never by a product from again... whole other story...)I want a camera to stay on all the time wuthout having to log on each time. That's just absurd.4. Which brings me to the fact that there is no stand alone software to view with, etc. They have a "ZVIEWER" that you can download from the website in which the GUI looks pretty good. However, after it did find the camera, it would not display the image. I asked zmodo support about this and they said that in the last firmware update, they made it do this on purpose due to some security issue and wont be fixed. WHAT?? So i flat out asked them if this is now meant to be used on a phone or tablet only, and they said yes. This is where you have to connect to it via a web browser to watch.5. The motion detection is worthless. When it does work, it just records a few images, not actual video.I know it was only $35, but if it would at least stay connected and wasnt as laggy, then it would be worth it. I will probably send it back as I just dont see any possible use for it.
