The SLS hood on an old Safariland holster (Model 6280) had clearance issues with a rear sight I installed so I purchased this as a "lets see if it works" replacement to fix the clearance issue. Long and short this product did fix the clearance issue and the Speed Locks strap does retain the gun during a gun grab scenario.My problems are:1) The button has to be "flicked" with the thumb to release the strap, not pushed and held. Lubricating the Speed Lock in strategic areas helps it flip open quickly.2) since this isn't totally compatible with Safariland holsters, I did have to drill new holes into my holster for the bottom two mounting holes on the lock mechanism and widen the screw hole on the strap. Not a big deal for me. Safariland's famous allen key hardware is compatible with the screw retainers in the package.I will post a video on my YouTube Channel: "Dan Pizzi Firearms Instructor" in the near future about the mods I had to do.

Instillation was pretty straight forward and so far so good. Have already bought two more. One to make another holster and one to save as a spare for the future if these guys don’t make these in 10 years.

Ordered one of these and when it showed up there were holes in the bag and it was missing multiple pieces of hardware so I couldn’t mount it. Went ahead and Had a replacement sent out and the replacement has enough hardware but they’re the incorrect length screws. The new screws literally are not long enough to even just mate on the unmounted hood unit without going through any holster material Doesn’t reach. Unmountable. Now it’s my problem to send them back and wait for a refund that will take at least 30 days per Amazons explanation ? What a joke. Will be leaving this review until my issues are resolved. This item is legit useless without the correct hardware. Insane.

Now my holster is level 2 retention! Works great and I am happy with the buy!
