Awesome Book!
This is a very useful book for beginner level students of Hindustani Classical music. The book is very easy to understand and has been written in very structured manner that is really very helpful for beginner level students to understand the fundamentals of Hindustani classical music as well as the very critical alankaar patterns that are of paramount importance if a student wants to really build a strong foundation.I refer to this book everytime I practice .This is a must have for all lovers and practitioners of Hindustani classical music .

It's good but not great
I just got the book. It's good but not great. It tries to tie in the alankars exercises to a tal cycle. It only has 60 alankars, which it says. I have the "Ultimate Riyaaz books" by Keith Villanueva and they blow this book away. One book has 550+ alankars in it!I applaud Dr.Sharma for his effort. There aren't many good books on how to practice but there tons of books on ICM. This is good simple book for someone completely new to Indian classical music.
