Soil Saver 100% Organic Gypsum and Humic Acid Soil Amendment 15 lb Bag Covers 2,500 sq ft

Had 3 large patches of grass in my front yard. Tried extensive watering, fertilizer, etc, for months, and got nothing. Tried this before I decided to buy several square feet of sod. Within a week, thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Within about 1.5 months, the grass was all the way grown in! That was 2 years ago by the way, and the grass is still growing like it should.

I have used these products for my lawn because the soil is very heavy with clay. They are great in helping to increase the soil’s ability to keep an open matrix.The gypsum in this product really helps break up the heavy clay soil allowing nutrients to penetrate down to the roots of the lawn. I also use it in my flower and vegetable beds to help allow the plants access to the nutrients while also adding humic acid to the soil, this is more of a micro nutrient rather than changing the Ph of the soil. The soil in Denver Colorado and the surrounding areas is almost like cement, it become very hard to till, while adding gypsum, coco coir, compost and sand help to break up the dense soil it also helps with the water penetration to the plants roots.

I first applied Lawn Box Soil Saver last fall and my lawn came out of dormancy thick, green and without any weeds. I live in Oklahoma City where the soil is clay and doesn’t perk very well, so I am hoping the gypsum will loosen the soil and increase nutrient uptake and water retention. I put down another application in mid April and will update my review when the growing season is in full swing.

Great product, we prepped and seeded just before the big storms that came through CA. We also used pine shavings to go on top of the soil so that the seeds wouldn't float away. Now it is growing strong and green. Looks great. We may buy this same product for our other side of the yard.

For the price and smallish package, I expected a bit more from Lawn Box, but didn't really see any difference after application. My lawn probably needs more attention than I had time to give it last season, and without addressing its multiple needs all at once (dry areas, crabgrass & misc weeds, soil needs/varying pH), I didn't expect to see miracles - and no miracles were to be had. This did no harm, but also made no noticeable difference in my lawn's health. I was sort of hoping it might have an Ironite effect - when I had a weak, yellowish lawn in years past (different zip code), a sprinkling of Ironite and a good soak made a world of difference. If you're willing to test and amend your soil, you could probably do better (cost-wise) just purchasing the separate ingredients needed for your specific lawn health needs & applying them over time rather than going with Lawn Box products ... but if you can afford it and are willing to apply throughout the different seasons as recommended, you may have fine results with this brand. I realize this wasn't meant to be a one-and-done solution, and is supposed to be combined with other LB products at different points in the year for best results. But, it had the ingredients I was looking for at the time in a small enough bag to give it a quick test, so I figured it was worth a shot.

A couple of quick notes, a)I did not have to worry about keeping the family or pets off the lawn after applying. b) Seems to have worked it’s self in completely after running the sprinklers a couple of times. I did notice my turf began to grow in the bare and stubborn sections of the yard within a weeks time!

My Bermuda lawn in Bakersfield CA looked like it had seen it’s last days. We picked holes, w put down various fertilizers, and nothing was helping until I deeply watered in Lawn Box. Two weeks later my lawn is lush n green, with zero yellow patches. And the bare spots are almost entirely filled in. Amazing non toxic product!!!

Amazon refunded me because it was a problem through seller. They said no need to return it. We then used it in small area. I liked that it just blended in and didn't show with color being black like dirt and fine particles
