Hayes Stroker Ryde, Trail, Carbon Internal Kit

Great replacement and worked well.

Old style is pictured, but I received the new style with the steep shoulder vice the straight side pictured. It'll fit either style bore but this newer designed piston should let your Stroker, Trail, Ryde etc lever cycle smoother and eliminate floppy brake lever caused by binding or swollen o-rings.Time will tell, but it was an immediate improvement over my sticky old Stroker Trails and the old style piston. Install was simple (assuming you have C clip pliers, a bleed kit, dot fluid, etc). Plenty of YouTube videos out there for the usual remove and replace. Lots of lube included which is a nice touch.Getting my old one out involved removing the whole master cylinder, lever and C clip. Then slowly drilling into the domed pocket, a bit of tapping with a punch and then slowly pulling out while turning at the drill at low rpms. This shouldn't be the routine but I couldn't find an answer to a really stuck piston and it worked without damage to the master, allowing this replacement to drop in easy.

My Hayes Stroker Ryde front brake was sticking and had signicifcant play in the lever so I read online that this should fix it and it did. Brake springs back perfectly. Find the video on YouTube to show you the process. Make sure you have small snap ring pliers for the C Clip. Glad it came with lube so hopefully I don’t have to do this again. Old piston was stuck in the master cylinder so I had to push fluid in the system with my bleed syringe hooked up to the master cylinder. Not a hard job, but would not recommend for beginners. Had to bleed the line after install. Was worth it as buying new brakes or taking to the shop would have been expensive, and I don’t do expensive!

This fixed my Hayes Gram Hydraulic brake lever that had gotten to the point of not working , this seems to be a new design - hopefully the new design fixes the issue.. over-all I love these brakes!
