Q: what size arrow is recommended?

If this is your first bow, try SAS Courage Carbon Arrows for 30-50lb draw weight or SAS Spirit Carbon Arrows for <30lb draw weights. 30" arrows is a good place to start. Get 6. You can order more longer or shorter once you have the bow and have a better idea what size will suit you and your bow best. Also order a bow stringer and a glue gun. Arrows often come needing tips/inserts glued in. It's easy. Don't be intimidated. If you have been thinking about getting this bow, do it. You won't be disappointed. If it's your first bow a 30lb draw weight is a good place to start. The above arrows will be great to get you started. If you plan to shoot "off the shelf" (off the riser itself not off a plastic arrow rest) make sure your arrows have feather fletching, not plastic vanes. The above arrows are feathered. Now go put that bow in your cart order some SAS carbon arrows and start having fun.

Q: does it come with a stringer

Q: what is the overall length of this bow ? my husbands draw is 29", will this bow work for him ? I'm looking to surprise him. Thanks

The other answers have stated the actual bow length is 62". Unless your husband is very short, this should be a good bow. I am 6'1" and my bow is about 70" As regards the draw length, the 29" is not an issue. All bow weights are given at a 28" draw (as a standard). Drawing at a longer distance than the standard adds about 2 pounds per inch of draw beyond the standard 28". The only real issue is that the arrows being used need to be long enough to allow for the person's draw length. The point of the arrow should never be drawn past the forward edge of the bow. Doing so runs the risk that the arrow may come off the rest when it's released. You don't want that. Any archery shop can set you up with arrows of the proper length and stiffness for the draw weight.

Q: If I were to buy the 60lb bow and wanted to also buy a replacement string which should I get? Length? Type? Brand?

Probably an 18 strand count dacron or flemish twist. The string length is based off the bow length and is recommended to try 4 inches shorter string than the bow length. But some situations like on my bow call for a 3 inch shorter string to bow. Id try 3 inches shorter. So if its a 62” bow id do 59” and get a bow square to measure the brace height. It’s basically all about the correct brace height. And for a 62” recurve its between 7.5-8.5 inches.
