Is there a cap to cover the opening after disconnecting the detachable hose?

Yes. There is. It fits into the transition piece that is attached to the lower back chipper body.

This didn't come with an adaptor for the Tazz machine. where can I get one?

I don’t know the Tazz machine but I suspect they are all pretty much the same. I purchased the one I have from Amazon 6 hp. I would not waste my money w/leaf attachment. I purchased one but found out it was easier for me to just rake up the leaves/debris and put them in the hopper. I found out it was a waste of money!

I understand the hose is about 10 feet. I would like a 2 foot hose. Is this the type of hose that could be cut?

I do not have an answer for you but I have experienced nothing but problems with mine every time I try to use it!!

Could I just use the hose from wet/ dry vacuum?

Wet Dry vac hose would be too small to fit hose connection. It would probably be too small to work due to excessive suction anyway.
