Go from shiny to matte in one coat
Unfortunately this product has been discontinued, as it was perfect. Crafters suggest buying a spray matte varnish, but that doesn't help if you want some areas shiny and others matte. Fine details are easy with this as it is a paint on product and a little goes a long way.

Be careful how you use it but works great
This has worked very well for my metal miniatures to give them a matte finish. I followed suggestions I found online to let paint dry for a week before using the Dullcote and had no problems with it lifting paint. I used it over a shiny varnish after letting the varnish dry for a couple days and had no problem with the varnish lifting. It left a nice matte finish over the shiny varnish. If you use it as a topcoat directly over paint and want to use it a day or so after letting the paint dry, I'd try it on a piece you don't care as much about or are willing to touch up first just to make sure there's no lifting. Otherwise, I'd suggest letting the paint sit for awhile. I also only have used this over acrylic paint on metal minis. I don't know if there would be any difference on a different type of paint or over a plastic base. For my purposes, I really like it and it does what it's supposed to.

best matte lacquer for minis
best matte lacquer for minis. Just make sure you use another semi-gloss lacquer first so your paint won't smudge. Testors can ruin a paint job if it's the first coat directly on paint.
