The stainless ice balls don't really cool your drink down but help help to keep it cool.the big ice balls are pretty neat.

They could have been a little bigger, but overall satisfied with them...

Put the balls in the freezer to free. The balls are stainless steel and get cold fast and hold their cold for a long time. When you are ready to use them, pull them out of the freezer and put in your favorite glass. It will keep your drink cold and not water it down.If you prefer ice in your drink, use the red balls. Put the top on the bottom very firmly, then fill the top, through the hole, with water, then put in the freezer and freeze. It can take up to 12 hours to freeze. When you are ready to use it, pull it out, peel the top off (kind of) and then you have a fully round ball of ice. It is about 1 1/2 inches tall, so not super big, but works well.I love how this set comes with a storage bag and tongs. Use the tongs to put the balls in the drink or pull them out – so you don’t get drink all over your hands. You can wash the balls off in the sink or put them through the dishwasher. Balls are too small.

This is a really nice gift set for a drinker. You don't necessarily need to use these for whiskey, though that's what they are made for. You get four small stainless steel balls, a set of tongs, a velveteen drawstring bag to store them in, and two red silicone molds for making real ice balls.I have been using ice ball molds for months, and these are a little different in that they are individual molds that you put together, fill with water (or juice or a combination of both, or you can add mint, flavoring, etc.) and freeze. Once they're frozen, you simply pull them open and pop out your ball of ice. Solid ice balls melt more slowly than regular ice cubes, keeping your drink colder longer and diluting it less.The stainless steel balls were new to me. These are the perfect tool for chilling your drink without diluting it at all. The stainless steel balls stay cold for a long time--hopefully long enough to drink your drink, and they chill your drink faster than using plain ice. The little tongs give you a good way to put the balls in and out of your drink without touching them. You are supposed to remove the stainless steel balls before drinking, but if you choose not to, just be careful not to smack yourself in the teeth with them (don't ask me why I know this, just trust me).
