Airline approved for in cabin pets.
These backpacks are great for our 4lb & 6lb Morkies... but the 8lb Morkie is slightly uncomfortable for long journeys. If you want to switch between backpack style and duffle-bag style it takes a minute & its difficult to change the placement of the sherpa pad without removing the pet... also, the straps have to be removed & placed differently (which i never really figured out how to do use as a duffle bag style & carry it) the instructions on how to attach the straps are vague. The bag quality is nice though. I bought these to migrate my dogs to another country & fly in the cabin. I continue to use them when i want to secure them in a vehicle or if we are hiking in areas that i am concerned about their safety around larger dogs.

Good quality and super comfortable to carry my cat
It's well done and looks resistant. My cat didn't like it at all the very first time she entered into it (she didn't like the older one either) but I'm getting her used to. The size fits her, she's a small size cat. I got it to bring her with my on the plane, and this model can be pushed down, so it enters under the seat - Edit: I flew with Volaris that has a very strict size for pet carrier and it worked perfectly!

Great on airplanes and things that are not that great
Carrier is roomy enough for my cat to lay down, stretch, and move around, and still small enough to fit under the seat on an airplane. It's comfortable to wear both ways, and quick and easy to change the straps to switch between the styles. Things I wish I had noticed before buying: It has openings on both smaller sides, so when in backpack mode, the bottom is zippered and I'm worried it will open (it never has). There is nowhere to clip in her leash to the inside of the carrier. It's not easy to switch from backpack style to carrier style with the cat inside, because there is only one lining that you have to adjust. When using as a backpack, there are only 2 feasible openings, the one on top and in the front, neither of which is very easy for my cat to get into. I wish there was an opening by the side/ water bottle area to make it easier for her.

Missing straps
Great product...missing straps so it can’t be carried though... also bought a replacement same type/ brand. My dog travelled in it great on trip to our vacation destination. On the way home, she got frightened by somethIng, while on my back. She started tearing at the mesh on the bag and had a hole big enough to crawl through before I realized what she had been doing. I had to buy another $190 bag at the airport to get on the plane. 🙁

Ok but not Sherpa Original quality
In short great for a dog but feels a bit cramped - may want to size up. I have a Sherpa Original medium size carrier that I love and feels very secure for my ~9 lb cat with plenty of extra space. I live in NYC and carrying by hand/shoulder strap gets tiresome so I decided to look into backpacks. I was surprised to find minimal online reviews for the Sherpa backpack so decided to order (medium) and see for myself. I bought the Amazon used option to save a few dollars, not minding some slight use or pet hair, and unfortunately it was sent without any straps! So returning for that reason but don't plan to rebuy. Comparing to the Original the backpack feels a bit smaller despite being very similar proportions and both rated for pets up to 16lb- it does have a slight inner frame to hold itself up but nowhere near as robust as the Original's wire frame, and will slightly collapse on itself from the "top" entrance - I think a dog wouldn't mind especially if using with the top open but this would freak my cat out. Opens from the top, front and bottom. The mesh is quite robust and dark - slightly thicker than the Original. The moveable Sherpa board is thinner Sherpa fabric and the board is plastic with some give (vs original is very solid and I believe wood). On the backpack the board folds so you can use it in the base folder if in backpack mode or flat if using carrier mode. Note there is NO tether - not even a D ring to secure a leash which seems like a silly and bad design oversight. Otherwise seems well constructed but design could be better.

Doggo loves it!
Initially I bought the Sherpa Ultimate on Wheels because I think he would like to roll. He did not so I had to carry it. So then I bought this and he really liked it. I wore it in the front like a baby carrier and he was very calm that way. It was a little less room but still enough for him to move around. I like that it layed on its side to go under the seat which gave him more room to stretch out. It fit under the seat with room to spare to put my purse too. The sides were soft which made it easy to maneuver it under the seat in the small space we had. For reference, he is an 8lb papillon. He is a little taller than the specs for the bag but he did not seem cramped at all. He curled up in the bottom and went to sleep when I was carrying him around. I really like this carrier and recommend it if you are travelling with a small dog.

Can't beat the backpack for airport transport!
This bag is amazing. Purchased for a United flight to bring home our 9 pound papillon., It was great as a backpack in the airport and easily converted to side carry to go on the plane and under the seat (where it fit with room to spare). Just do a couple of practice runs changing the strap position beforehand and you'll be good to go. We did zip tie the bottom zipper just to be safe (didn't want it coming undone accidentally while in backpack mode). It wasn't necessary to do that - it just made me feel a little more secure. Tested it at home on our Shih Tzu (9 lbs) and two cats (both around 9 lbs) and they all fit well - no size concerns on any of those either.

Kitty loves it, I love it. My only addition would have been magnets or velcro to keep the little cushion in place.

El producto es de muy buena calidad pero si es extremadamente pequeña… la quise para un cachorro de terrier escoces y apenas le podría caber.

The backpack in itself is pretty good, very sturdy compared to other ones I've tried. The quality is very nice, and its design is very versatile, which is really why I bought the backpack in the first place. My 10lbs cat doesn't seem to mind it nearly as much as other carriers, which I consider a big plus. There are a few things that can be improved but overall, this is one of the better cat backpacks at a reasonable price and I'm happy with it. What could be improved: - there is no tether inside the backpack, which means your pet could escape during travel - the backpack straps are fairly long even when adjusted to the minimum length, which could be problematic for shorter people Note: putting together the backpack is a little confusing, but there is a video on their website explaining it.

Too small for a cat, I would recommend it only of you have a kitten.
