Stromberg Carlson 0140.0996 BA-100 RV Bumper Hitch Adapter

Extremely happy with this item and how well it is constructed. It was a cinch to install on my RV bumper and will hold our bike rack well.Shipping was fast and even with the weight, it shipped free with Prime and was competitive to brick and mortar pricing.Unit fits to specs and has a nice feature of a set screw on the side for added peace of mind.

There are two important issues: (1) The pin hole is right in the middle which makes some bike rack attachments impossible to use (e.g. Thule). It should have been put within the standard distance but that is where the anti-rattle bolt is. (2) With the anti-rattle bolt so close to the pin the whole set up is quite busy for manipulation (e.g. insert pin or tight up the bolt). The reinforcements do not make it any easier either. The main bolts do not come with washers so expect some metal filling when torquing up. In general, it may do the job but not a lot of thought was put in this particular design.

The top and bottom plate design helps to distribute the weight of the load. It can be mounted with the receiver on top or bottom. Due to the height of mt bumper, I chose to mount the receiver underneath. The picture shows an 1-1/4" receiver adapter installed - this is not included with the 2" receiver hitch.

It works but started rusting after one day. Will have to remove and put a layer of anti corrosion and paint.

This bumper hitch is perfect for my 5th wheel trailer. I did not have room on top of the bumper so mounted it underneath. It's well constructed I painted the bolts and nuts to prevent rust and will move it so the bolts are flush with the bumper and permanently attach a wedge in the slight gap between the bolts and bumper on the opposite side to prevent any movement.
