Nice photos and history.
I am currently a 2013 Premium Season Pass holder and love both the amusement park and the water park. I went to Fright Fest 3x last year, the amusement park 2x so far this year and the water park 1x so far this year. Great Adventure is a huge part of the history of New Jersey and it's connection to the Jersey Shore. The book definitely overlooks the Great Adventure mistakes and mismanagement but I have another book that is nothing but that. I first went to Great Adventure when the haunted hay ride was there. At that time there were almost no flat rides and I don't go on roller coasters. I visited again when the ride simulator was open and enjoyed that very much. This year I bought a Go Kart season pass and this is now my favorite ride in the park. I have many problems with Six Flags and have sent them to the management with each survey I am sent. I was recently invited to join the Advisory Committee so maybe I can help make a few improvements to the park, like a complete redesign of the horrible parking lot. Anyhow, I loved the book and enjoyed seeing photos of the rides and attractions that are long gone.

We live about 30 minutes away from the park now, and I grew up about an hour away from it. I'm 46 now so I've spent a lot of time at Six Flags Great Adventure and found this to be a very informative book with some great archival photos. I wish some sections were longer and/or contained additional details/photos, but overall it's a good book, esepcially for the price.

Great Adventure
Tons of great pictures and a great story about a great park that has survived many UPS and DoWnS. One of the last great themed parks built in America, (next to Fiesta Texas) built to a grand "over the top" scale. A really nice addition to my collection.

A fine record of the Great Adventure Theme Park Work Experience
I worked for Park Security for the first four years it was open 1974-1978. Harry Applegate has done a fine job piecing together the history of the Park through it rather complex trail of ownership and management. He also oversees the website that maintains the history of the Great Adventure Theme Park. It's worth a visit also.

Where's the history?
The book has a lot of nice pictures of Great Adventure, but I felt that the history was lacking. The book introduction states that "This is the amazing history of Six Flags Great Adventure." But then you read the book and there is no mention of the haunted house fire that killed 8 teens! I am amazed that this is overlooked since it was the largest death toll in a haunted attraction ever...and lead to changes and closures of haunted attractions nationwide. The book also failed to mention any of the other mishaps that occured at the park...like the girl who was killed on the Lighting Loops. At times, I felt like I was reading a history book about Germany that failed to mention WWII. I guess this is what happens when you get most of your pictures from the park itself...they ban you from mentioning anything bad.The book, however, was still interesting and informative.

I would love to see a coffee table book with lots of ...
Worked at the park from 79-83/84. Living only 5 miles from the park I remember so much. FromVisiting when it opened (my dad was a Jackson police officer, so he always took us there) to my working years.., I still have my all yearbooks from my working years. So much was just skimmed over it seems. (No mention if when "bandstand by the lake" turned into "disco by the lake" 78-79. I would love to see a coffee table book with lots of pictures "through the years" of rides, shows, foods (no mention of "wee donuts?".) lol!It was a good and enjoyable, and fast read- but I was disappointed, I WANT MORE! :) but thank you for giving us this.

Enjoyable
This book is a good addition for those who collect other amusement park books in the series. I enjoy the photos of the attractions that are no longer at the park, as well as the photos of those attractions that remain.

SFGAdventure Book
It was not what I expected. And that is not good or bad.I was looking for more updates, new/old photos, expanded stories about the rides and the park. There were some new photos and being featured in color was a nice treat, but to me it was the old book redone in color with very few new things added. It is worth owning if you love amusement parks like I do.
