Great buy, sturdy and simple.
For what it is, and for the price I have to give it 5 stars. We recently decided that it was time to ditch our old queen bed, and opted to try a king size. We have 3 dogs who think our bed is their reward for bath day, and I always ended up clinging to the edge. I didn't have a lot of money to spend considering we had to start from scratch as we have always had a queen bed. I figured we could upgrade later but this would get us through. It came 3 days ahead of the estimated delivery date. The box was fairly big and hefty but nothing too bad. I was a little concerned when we opened it and discovered what looked like 2 twin frames. We could see there were places to bolt them together so we gave it the benefit of the doubt and started setting it up. I have to mention, we had just spent a decent amount of time, a few tools, pinched fingers and more than a couple nicks and bruises taking apart our old frame, head and foot board. However, under 5 minutes later with NO tools or battle wounds we had a complete bed frame up and ready for the bed. It was SO simple to put together. It folds out like a cot, and a few bolts and wing nuts and you are set. Painless. I was very pleased with that.Honestly, it didn't look very sturdy. We put a memory foam mattress directly on it and crossed our fingers. 2 nights later, the frame stood up to 2 adults who toss and turn, and the dogs (GSD and Aussie) jumping on and off the bed and it never threatened to collapse. It doesn't slide around, creak or wobble. It is sturdier than it looks, idiot proof to set up, and the price was great. I'd buy it again. I am not even sure w will need to up grade, mos likely just attach a head board in the future.

Not Perfect But Making It Work
After purchasing a headboard for a platform metal bed frame, I learned that the bed frame was too narrow to attach the headboard and purchased these brackets. Apparently, not all platform metal bed frames are equal, and the brackets did not work perfectly but (hopefully) well enough to do the job. The bracket on one side had to be pounded into a tight place where the brace from the frame joined to the leg; a rubber mallet did the job. The bracket on the other side had one of the three holes for screws that was blocked by a metal tab on the frame; we just left that screw off. The set included two bars to attach between each bracket to a leg on the bed, but these did not line up on the frame we have, so we could not use them. Most likely, if you have the Boyd bed frame, the brackets will be much more compatible, but I have no idea what brand ours is. We're making it work, but it's not perfect. The brackets are strong and fairly easy to install if you have the bed frame for which they are compatible.

Exactly what we needed
I am reviewing this item as a severely obese couple. I do think it's important to note this since other couples may have the same concerns when shopping for a bed. My husband and I were hunting for a frame that would properly support our weight. For our combined weight we weren't finding many frames that would be appropriate, but this one was rated on another site to hold up to a thousand pounds or something like that. So we were more than covered with this one. Incredibly easy to assemble, fits our mattress well. I was a little concerned by the spacing of the support bars, since we weren't supposed to need a box spring with this, and though the bars do make impressions on the underside of our mattress it hasn't cut or damaged it by any means. A TON of room underneath for storage, and in fact there is enough space that the kids think it's fun to play under there. There's a tiny bit of a squeak to it, but I imagine it's nothing a little wd-40 won't fix. We've been using it for almost 6 months now and are very, very pleased with it. Great quality.

Set up was a breeze, very sturdy
This was easy to set up. There are two frames to unfold and two bolts to hold those frames together. Basically like setting up two cots and then attaching them lengthwise. Ii has wing-nuts, so be prepared for that, as I had sore fingers from tightening them down. Your best bet is to have two pair of pliers or vice grips when doing this, but it's not necessary, just more comfortable. You will need a bed skirt or some type of covering because it is unattractive by itself; you should recall me using the word 'cot'.. I put a bed skirt on it and my memory foam mattress and it looks great.Be aware that they aren't kidding that it is 14" high so consider that as you think about adding it to your room. My old bedframe and box springs were 12" high and I was like "what's 2 more inches?" Turns out, it looks and feels like a LOT more. I'm glad I have 8' high ceilings. Bu the time I added 14" of mattress and then pillows... The bed looks huge. My dog has a really hard time jumping on the bed now and even I feel like I'm hopping to get on the bed, and so I'm aware of just how dilapidated my old stuff was, and what a difference 2 inches makes (Insert your own phallic joke here). It feels incredibly sturdy and doesn't rock or teeter in the slightest. My 9-yr old niece decided to test it by jumping on my "new big bed"; it stood up to her 70-80 lbs. flailing about without incident.

Good product if you have the needed tools and extra hardware on hand.
The basic design is good and installation is “relatively” easy ... depending upon the specific bed frame and how handy and well-equipped the installer may be. There is a support that keeps the brace parallel to the bed frame leg which provides necessary support to keep the headboard rigid. The assembly instructions assume there is a hole drilled through the bed frame leg for the bolt that holds the brace in place ... alas, not so on my bed frame, requiring me to drill through the steel legs. Fortunately, I had the tools, but not everyone buying this product will be so well equipped. In addition, the washers supplied with the mounting hardware are not large enough to keep from pushing through the slots on the bracket ... be sure to have larger washers on hand. Finally, no lock washers are included. I added my own since I have no intention of having to tighten the bolts again when they would loosen some time in the future.

Robo.
