Traditions Performance Firearms Muzzleloader Hunter Flask and Powder Measure, 5 to 120 Grains (Brass)

My complaint is not with the item itself so that's why it got 4 stars. It was minus one start because of the minor issue of overflowing grains after each measure but it's most definitely not a deal breaker. When I received it - The new item was not new! I saw the bottom of the plastic had a slice. So I opened it fully to check it out. My suspicion was correct, it was used. The measure was scotch taped to the flask. I opened and looked in, there was powder residue, the finish was stained and very slightly pitted so I guess it's been sitting for a little bit. I cleaned it with solvent, it helped but not perfect - at least it's inside. Next time I guess I will take a trip to the store even if it is a little out of the way. At least I know new is new.Otherwise, The quality is pretty good. The threading for the cap is smooth and the spring loaded mechanism to dispense the powder is just fine. The measuring reservoir has a slider that is locked into position but that thumb screw so once you set it to how much powder you want, you lock it in. The end gets put under the hopper and you hit the button until the measurer is filled. I find that it can get a little messy from the stray grains that overflow so I went to the grocery and bought a box of pre-cut waxed paper squares already in a box dispenser (much like what the hot dog carts use - that type). This way after I'm done, there's no mess and I just pour the mess back into the powder container...viola! It's not like the waxed sheet gets ruined either so it can be used multiple times per sheet. I'm still on my only box of waxed paper. It's an awesome trick...trust me..Just clean it (solvent the inside from time to time)and polish it and it'll stay shiny for quite a while. I'm happy with it.

This is well made and easy to use. Everything comes apart so it's easy to clean.The inside of the main unit was dirty on the inside and the part that the powder comes out of was a little nicked up.

Had to upgrade from a smaller measure and flask to this larger one for my Colt Walker. My Origina, smaller measure meant loading out two 25 grain charges for each cylinder which increased loading time. With this I can set it to 50 grains and do one charge which eases the reloading. Feels solid and the measure fits in the mouth of the flask well to minimize any powder loss.

Works as it should and looks good but the inside has residue on the inside and chunks but it was in a sealed package.Easy to read powder measurer. To get a full load of powder into the measurer be sure to hit the Unger on the flask and shake it a little. The powder gets bunched up at the bottom of the flask sometimes. Not a big issue by ANY means!

this is an excellent value package both pieces arrived they arrived on time I love the feel I love the weight does not feel flimsy at all looks like it will hold up very well thank you very much.

It measures well and is made nicely and easy to use, sometimes the screw that holds it in the correct position comes loose however and it you may have to readjust the measurement, this is a minor nuisance though and is still 100% usable.

The markings on the powder measure are kind of small and light. They're difficult for me to read easily, but otherwise the flask and measurer seem to be well made. You probably should weigh the powder charge you use since different grades can have different volumes. But one you get the measurement you want you can screw the powder measurer tight and lock it in place. I'd buy it again.
